Football/Track Guys
I was looking at some stories on line and see that Donald Scott won the MAC Triple Jump. I wasn't really surprised by this knowing that Donald is a phenomenal athlete, but what I didn't know was that Ryan Brumfield and Bronson Hill are both on the track team as well.
I know Chris Robeson ran track when he played football, but I'm struggling to think of other guys who did both...
Anyone have any other names?

In the late 90's Jeremy Lingenfelter was a Linebacker and threw shotput. Seems to me he was very successful in T&F but mainly special teams in football.

I don't have the proof but I thought I read somewhere that the IL guys did track for their schools. I am not sure how or what.. D. Scott, D. Reed, Cotton and Russell.. I think also K. Strange may have done it.. Sorry I dont have any links..

I think the issue are those FB players who also did track at EMU.
Needless to say, it takes a lot to be both a collegiate FB player and EMU track/field athlete.

I wish more kids did this, this is what lots of bigger school does for some kids.. I did both and sucked at both, so you are correct in your statement in most cases..

RE: Football/Track Guys
There is probably a lot of them. I don't have a good memory for names. I can recall some.
- Dave Pureifory, DL and shot put
- Didn't Lionel Dalton also put the shot?
- Clarence Chapman, DB and long jump
- Harkema had a WR, a short white kid that he liked to use on end arounds that also ran sprints on the track team. He dropped a pass during a critical time and I don't remember ever seeing him in pads again.
- Rasnick had a guy that if I recall correctly had an unusual combination. I think he was a LB who ran 400m.
The first three all were at EMU before me. I probably know about them because they were in the NFL.
I'm sure there are a whole bunch more.

The short white kid was Dan Baenziger, I had him in a class. Also in the class was former Lions WR Jeff Chadwick's little brother, who played WR at Eastern and was pals with Baenziger.

Good memory. By the way, I was there before Dalton, not after.
