I have a dual degree with a minor, was in the top ten percent of my class in high school, passed Physics and Cal II in college, 1 of 12 selected to represent my school of 1,100, section leader of a 35 piece trumpet section in college, yet, you don't expect much. All that shows me is that you can't see past surface impressions.

Your brain saw what you wanted to see, not what was actually there. I wasnt even thinking about atlanta's demographics until atlanta folks brought it up.

Wow.....Physics AND Cal II - you should be proud, I didn't think my passing Honors Physics was that big a deal, but I guess it is a real accomplishment for some. (Of course, the fact that you think top 10 percent in High school and trumpet section leader matter in the real world kinda proves my point about adult conversation, but I'll let you have that one.)

LOL - tell you what, let me know when you get a couple of graduate degrees. You still won't have caught up to me, but I promise that when that happens, I won't ridicule your butchering of the English language (though I would bet that if you did accomplish that, you wouldn't be using the term "dogg" in everyday conversation anymore).

Furman finished 24th in FCS (Massey Ratings) beating Appalachian State and scoring 32 points at Florida, yes the SEC Florida. They had a better record than GSU (6-5 vs 3-8) last season. I don't see why you would "laugh them out of the room" when they have the same credentials (or better) than GSU fledgling program had when they started? It just seems a bit of undeserved arrogance to me.

Let me be clear, GSU has NO name brand recognition. They haven't played good football even in their division. It seems like GSU fans are using their rent-a-stadium and big metro to try and push folks around who have been playing football for much longer and have been playing the game better. It would be like me interning at a law firm and saying "I can do this job better than you can, here let me do it."

I would have much rather had Georgia Southern, a team with storied tradition than a startup that's struggling to win games and is only here because you're in Atlanta.

I, in no way, want liberty to be in our conference, but I'm just appalled at how GSU thinks they're better than their equals or betters just because they got a free ticket to FBS.

That's great, I'm glad you got it, its a great achievement for your school. But you didn't have to work as hard for it as those who moved up over years and years of hard work, it was more or less handed to you. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not jealous because Troy had to work harder to get here, I'm happy for you in that regard. I'm irritated by the fact that you guys look down on other FCS teams not that you got your free ticket and your huge stadium.

Soooooooo, you are saying that Furman would be a viable candidate for the SBC on a Troy board? If that's not true, then everything you just said is absolute crap.

I went back and bolded it for you. Please tell me why its crap.

How does that bolded part relate to my post. You attacked GSU fans for not wanting Furman, then you say you don't want Liberty. I have no idea how that is relevant, but if your fans do not want Furman, then how in the world can you attack GSU fans for saying the same thing?

No, no, no. First of all, I tend to have separate individual thoughts from what most of the Troy faithful believe. Many of the Troy posters are the same way, that's why they're here and post less on the main site. So that said, I don't want Furman or Liberty either. But I'm not really irritated by GSU fans because they don't want them, but rather the manner in which they express themselves.

GSU fans don't want Furman, ok got it. But why "laugh someone out of the room" as if GSU is any better of a program than Furman? It's arrogant to say things like that when GSU has only been playing football for two years, got a easier ride to FBS, plays in a nice stadium that isn't theirs. Their statements to a FAR superior Georgia Southern program are equally appalling.

For a program that inherited a lot and is very lucky to be where they are, they don't seem grateful, they seem spiteful to those who have the same desires they have, or are a threat (Georgia Southern). I'm glad they have the nice stadium and are getting their time in the sun, but be grateful instead of being demeaning toward every FCS team that wants to be where they are.

You know, you continue to be personally insulting. And yet you pride yourself on your adult comminication skills. I never said I was a big shot. All I was trying to do was prove that I wasn't an idiot, not that i'm a rocket scientist. But apparently if I don't have the degrees and success you proclaim, then I am incapable of independent thought. I guess that makes me a nobody, and really just makes you a jerk. I never once said you were unintelligent. I just said you couldn't see past surface impressions and stereotyped me to unable to carry on an intelligent adult conversation.

I really don't care if I've caught up to you. I compare myself to myself, and that's it. That's how it should be. Am I better than I was yesterday, that's all I ask myself.

One guy mentioned Furman on our message board and we laughed him out of the room. So I'm pretty sure your not talking about us.

Furman has a metro of 600,000. Seems to be big enough to get a seat at the grand table. Furman finished 24th in FCS (Massey Ratings) beating Appalachian State and scoring 32 points at Florida, yes the SEC Florida. They had a better record than GSU (6-5 vs 3-8) last season. First off, 600,000 is a huge different from 5.5 million in our metro area. So there's that.

The other thing is, you can think what you want of our upstart program, but what really counts is we're part of this conference now. We have a lot of upside and I hope within a few years we can start making a meaningful contribution to the conference.

Being an official member of the SBC, I think we have the right to say who we'd rather be playing for years to come. If we don't think Furman is good enough for the SBC, then that's our opinion. It's not to be discounted because we had 1 losing season out of 2.
