...for winning both the outright regular season and tournament championship within one week of each other, ironically in the host city of Birmingham, where the Golden Hurricane won the former in a grueling 3 game series against the host team, the UAB Blazers.

I attended the first 2 sessions of the conference tournament, and Tulsa plays a very deliberate and disciplined game, Southern Miss couldn't offer them any resistance in the first round, and they managed to soldier thru a pair of tight games with Houston and Marshall to win the event.

Some great softball was played this weekend, I wish that all of the games had been televised from beginning to end so that more people could have seen just how proud and competitive Conference USA really is. The Final Four (UAB, Tulsa, Houston, Marshall) represented the conference and the game itself extremely well. For those of you Tulsa fans who were there, I hope you enjoyed your time in our city, you played so well, it was almost as if you were very familiar with your surroundings, if you know what I mean. Again, congratulations, Tulsa, and I'll be rooting for you and any other Conference USA representatives fortunate enough to make it to the NCAA Softball tournament.
