Three letters U A B.

Good point eagle, the kings of the offseason will have to set foot back on the field in 3 months and will be absent from discussions.

UAB is still better than App State. UAB, GSU, FIU, UCF, USF... doesn't matter. App State is an inferior school to all of them, athletically, academically and financially. Always will be. That's just a simple reality of the way the world is and no amount of propaganda, denial and flat-out lying will ever change that. Ever.

Alright. I was willing to concede that depending on which history you choose to follow you could change which team is considered best. But after being shown information showing something you asked for 3333, you then decided to not only disregard it, but also, without any evidence or reason to back it up, claim that our athletics department is lying to the donors. There is absolutely zero evidence for that whatsoever. At this point, ay credibility you had has gone out the window and frankly I find your hastiness to question the integrity of any department of our school quite insulting. You lost an argument, and instead of conceding, you flung crap around and started crying and yelling "conspiracy theory!". I can't believe any adult would stoop to that level.

Only for men's basketball so far does it depend which years you're looking at. Certainly not overall athletic programs.

They aren't lying to donors everyone does this including App (look at our pledges reporting by our athletic department vs. USAtoday, the latter appears to be on a one year lag). They just may not be reporting dollars brought it. I'd hate to get into an accounting lesson to describe cash vs. accrual accounting as that would be extremely boring (but would explain the one year lag for App). It would appear that the PAC is reporting pledges for 2011 while USAtoday is reporting cash collected. It is a very reasonable deduction based upon two sources of data if you'd think about it. GA St. should be extremely excited about the increase of donations/pledges from 2009 to 2011. With the FBS news it could grow even more, something I'll be interested to see for my information as well.

Perhaps the name calling and bully tactics wore on me, sorry for that. I let him pull me down to his level for a few posts. Good luck to the rational GA St. fans.

RE: OT: at SaintDK10's request
From what I can tell, the non-restricted funds were as follows for App and Georgia Southern for the year 2010-2011.

App St - 2.5 million
Georgia Southern - 2.3 million

Both expect to have an increase this year.

I am not sure that only looking at non-restricted funds is an accurate way of doing a comparison. A lot of people donate to certain items, scholarships, a particular sport etc. In that case those are restricted funds but they are still donations.

I also think you would have to include donations for Capital Campaigns as well? For example, we are working towards the football operations building which is being 100% privately funded. The final tally is 10 million of which we have over 5 million raised. I would think you have to consider that as well. We had an auction recently which 800 people attended at an average of $50 a person plus probably another 20 to 25k raised that night during the auctions. Since all the proceeds went to the Eagle Football Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, that would be considered restricted yet still a donation.

Long story short, I think all donations need to be considered if doing a comparison.
