CUSA3.0 as it is unfolding with the new expansion members....

Or

IF the nBE ends up splitting with basketball onlies, throwing in with UL,UC,RU,USF,UCONN,UCF,MEM,Temple, and Navy, along with USM and Marshall to start something new?

I see no reason for BSU and SDSU to join the nBE without AQ status and money. Even if its a couple million more than MWC is that enough to offset travel and the major hit Olympic sports will take? The Big12 seems stable after the TV deal. The ACC could make a play on RU and UCONN I suppose but I don't think they will.

Hmmm...I have no desire to play football against the like of UTSA or UNCC or APP on a regular basis. Would prefer the more regionality of the current Big East football members even with the loss of RU or UCONN.

Seriously, the original CUSA was a good and fun conference. It made sense.

Difficult question to answer. I'm all about tradition, rivalries, and commonality, not dollar signs and mega TV deals. Being in a conference with USM and Marshall brings that. IMO being in a conference with some of the BE schools doesn't. It's a shame that we cannot have our cake and eat it too, but as unbelieving as this might sound, the new CUSA has me intrigued and I'm cool staying in it. If any teams are going to start over as a result of the BE breaking up, let it be the ones that left CUSA.

This answer presumes Louisville does not end up in the Big Texas XII.

I honestly don't see this collection of schools -- UL, UC, RU, USF, UConn, UCF, Memphis, Temple and Navy -- all agreeing to invite ECU (or Marshall) for the same reason the current Big East didn't invite ECU -- "perception of TV market"

Without West Virginia, ECU doesn't have a strong advocate in that above group of schools -- maybe Navy. But I can see Louisville, Cincinnati, and USF acting snooty and opposing the notion.

So, with that in mind, "C-USA 3.0" -- especially the East division (will be better if/when ODU agrees to join, which appears to be imminent)

As long as it's "FBS", then the "regional" scheduling will improve (assuming Holland can continue to keep UNC and State on the docket)

I know alot of folks have gotten used to Southern Miss, however, if there was another school that could fill some of the gap between ECU and FIU, I'd take that school and usher USM to the West Division and wouldn't shed a tear.

What school(s) are you talking about? I won't dare type the names in here, but feel free to ask in private.

-----

Now, I will say offer this, like I did 8 years ago regarding South Florida -- and once again, presumes Louisville is NOT in the Big Texas XII:

The real concern is Charlotte now that they are starting a football program.

They already have enough historical basketball clout with Louisville, Cincinnati and Memphis to be an attractive option if that above group were looking to expand.

If their football program shows any semblance of promise, I believe ECU will have end up enduring yet another heartache, much like she did when the Big East invited South Florida.

===========

Now, if Louisville ends up being a Big Texas XII member, all bets are off.

C-USA 3.0 for now. Some new players coming into C-USA East. A bit of easier competition for the East Title and after a few years of working with the C-USAv3 we might get invites from better conferences. But staying in C-USA is the safe and wise choice as we need something steady in our program as our record hasnt been steady every year

There are selling points for all the ads...

But, I think you won't really know till everyone gets here and we start playing each other.

IMO, whatever is the BE now, IS NOT THE BE of old.... therefore, it is dead to me.
