Someone in another thread asked, "Who do we want for the next ACC Commissioner?" Honestly, I have no idea who is out there or what their qualifications are. So I am proposing a slightly different question. "What qualities, experience, etc. should the next ACC Commissioner have?"

It is fair to say the next commissioner should not be from a member school. But, PLEASE, let's not make this about Swofford. With that in mind, here are a couple of qualities (not all)) I would look for.

1. Experience outside the ACC at a major conference. I don't know what they are called...Senior Associate Commissioner?
2. Experience negotiating TV contracts.
3. Experience with NCAA (current or former memberships on various committees).

4. No jobless relatives...

1: I don't think a BCS Conference or any Conference should be a perquisite. I want someone that is very knowledgeable in sports management even if it comes from Pro Sports.

2: Experience in negotiating TV Deals is definitely key. But lets not forget about Bowls either. We must develop a product that Bowls want, and get schools more involved in getting their fans to travel better. (I'm pointing the finger at Pitt as well).

3: I'm going to say yes and no in reference to dealing with the NCAA. As long as the person is a shrewd debater that doesn't matter to me as much.

4: Definitely agree HtownOrange... lol

1) Clean record of integrity
2) Educational background at a serious academic institution
3) History of dealing with serious media contracts and contacts
4) NO RELATION EVEN IN THE IMMEDIATE FAMILY TO WF, NCST, DUKE, OR UNC.
5) A track record in a program that produced on the field success across multiple sports at elite levels with no violations, and at least so-so academics.

#4 should be no degree from any current ACC member school, thus eliminating potential bias.
