It would be "sorry, you're dead, dude. You're is a contraction of you are, which is what your sentence should say...

Unfortunately, many of the players on last year's teams are gone. Thus, a statistical strength rating based on last year's teams is probably no more accurate than just using fan's perception (which I'm not opposed to using either in general conversation). Just not something IMO that will drive the media to change it's mind on the strength of a conference.

That's fair. However, you can especially with the comparision between last year actual to last year new lineup- tell what has happened.

Even if all things are exactly the same, last year's rankings don't mean all that much. Will the balls bounce the same way? Will the questionable calls go the same way? There's more to this than just the players...

There is that- but like for the MWC- you can see they've lost TCU and Boise and San Diego, but picked up the 5. The ratings just are an estimation of where the conferences have shifted. It'll be interesting to see in December what reality is.

What do you do with Charlotte in that analysis? Just use the FCS average as a placeholder until they start generating numbers in 2013?

Wait a second, we are all told that the SEC is the best conference. This must be wrong.

Big 12 had a once in a generation type of year last year- 27-3 OOC and 33-5 including bowl games- and they were still only 0.14 better than the new SEC.

yep.

The current 6 AQ's- none had a net loss of more than 1 point.

The smallest loss of the non AQ's- was -1.70. The other 3 lost at least 3 points.

RE: Post Expansion Conference Rankings (LY Sagarin)
If you want to go to tiers with that chart...

Tier 1 (above 80.0)
Big XII
SEC
Tier 2 (between 70.00-79.99)
Pac
B1G
BEast
ACC
Tier 3 (between 60.00-69.99)
MWC
CUSA
MAC
Tier 4 (below 60.00)
Sunbelt

NOTE: There was no mention of the WAC, since it seems there won't be a WAC to mention...

RE: Post Expansion Conference Rankings (LY Sagarin)
I would do 5 tiers:
Tier 1-
Big 12/SEC(teams in the 80s)
Tier 2-
Big 10/Pac 12(teams in the 75 range)
Tier 3-
Big East/ACC(teams in the low 70s)
Tier 4-
CUSA/MWC/MAC(teams in the 60s)
Tier 5-
SBC(teams in the 50s)

RE: Post Expansion Conference Rankings (LY Sagarin)
I think the outcome so far at least-
where before there were actually 6 tiers, tiers 4 and 5(tier 4 was MWC and CUSA, tier 5 was WAC and MAC) is now just tier 4 (with MWC, CUSA, and MAC)
