I went by there today and there are no seats. There is concrete under the canopy upon which seats will someday be installed. You know and we all know the scenario. The seats will be put in after the season is over and will sit there unused for months and months. Since there was no deal with the Cardinals worked out it will probably sit through the entire summer empty. But we need to throw some more money at the minor sports.....

I guess the chance wasn't as good as reported by the ETSU mouthpiece, Yep I am totally surprised.

It's disappointing that the seats and stadium have not been completed as quickly as everyone had hoped. A month ago it was looking pretty good. It just didn't happen.

Sorry, Rod

I've not been in on the meetings. It's obviously taken longer than anyone expected. But once it's completed it's going to be very impressive. Too bad that will have to wait until next season.

We were all hoping that it would have moved along quicker.

Got to go out there for the Stetson game last night. The "gatehouse" (for lack of a better term) is coming together quite nicely. The exterior brickwork is all done (if not, it's very close), and they're working on putting in the guts. No new developments on seating: concrete is in behind home, but not up the dugouts. No seats installed, but all the safety railing is up.

Since the hard part is more or less over, and the team won't be playing on the field after Sunday (though they will still practice for one more week), the construction crew should be able to go at it full-bore and have everything done by the time school starts in September, or at least before winter. That's strictly my speculation, but unless they claim they can't work in the summer heat, I see no reason why they can't get the stadium finished before school starts back up.

I was there for Senior day vs. Stetson. I'm not too impressed with their lack of progress. Despite the concrete here and bricks there, it's still basically a mud pit with a plastic field in the middle (I still can't believe we didn't even get real grass). I wonder what kind of $$$$$ deal the university made with those apartments for the inconveniences of game days. How would any of us like to be an apartment resident paying high-dollar rent and pushed out of our own parking lot by baseball fans with lawn chairs? Bottom line: it should have been finished 5 months ago, or not open for games this season at all.

Tusculum gets their facilities built on time and even shares them with professional sports franchises to the benefit of all.

ETSU hopes things work out.

Just another example of Tusculum, TUSCULUM!, kicking ETSU's ass.

This is the third straight facility that has been built late. Scratch that- built YEARS late.

And instead of heads rolling, we get ETSU acting like nothing is wrong.

I feel bad for Coach Walker. The man has built a long-time POWERHOUSE track and field program that has spawned many Olympians. The old outdoor track was in very bad shape, and we haven't even had it for a few years now. Coach Walker is retiring without having seen a new one built. That's how ETSU treats what arguably is its all-time best championship program and all-time most honored coach. Sad.

Meanwhile, A-Sun's North Florida is hosting part of the 2012 NCAA D-1 men's and women's track & field championships at its 9,400 seat Hodges Stadium:
