Liberty says no to Soulforce visit

Liberty University does not plan to allow members of the gay activist group Soulforce to step on campus today, despite the group’s announcement Monday of plans to do just that.

“To my knowledge, we have not authorized to let anyone on campus,” university spokesman Johnnie Moore said Tuesday. “We told them that they were restricted to the sidewalks.”

The last time the group came to Liberty, in March 2006, more than 20 members were arrested on charges of trespassing after walking onto school property.

Oh, and what choice would that be, exactly?

I strongly doubt that.

I can't remember the name of the organization now, they had a bunch of members show up and speak with us in the same colored shirts. I think you should do some homework on us and you will find we are not as bad as you think.

I know all about Liberty University, trust me. You personally might not hate gay people, but your university leadership, and especially your law school, surely do. And you folks do everything in your power to prevent equal rights for gay people. You can believe what you want, and be prepared for others who reject those beliefs.

The leadership does not hate them, they merely disagree with that choice

As do many Americans not associated with Liberty. Some of these comments are a little out there. I don't understand all the hate towards Liberty.

Again, I am quite sure that your beliefs and my beliefs can fit side by side in a football stadium, yes even the one at LU. This is an Athletic discussion.

Since we are so well known, I guess this isn't going to go away, so I will address some of the comments.

Liberty does not stand for hatred of anyone. Liberty stands for the Love of Jesus Christ. Most of us do not agree with Homosexuality, true, but most of us will show love and respect to gay people who show respect to us. Will we share our faith, you bet. This is because we were called to do so.

Most people who comment on Liberty they way you gents are have never actually looked into what we really believe or been on campus. Most just saw an interview or 2 with Dr. Falwell and assume that is the whole picture. The same people would be totally in my face if I made such snap judgements about their beliefs or lifestyle.

Give us a try, most of us are nice people. And more importantly to this discussion we are prepared and ready for high ATHLETIC achievement.

That is all.

Agree. Especially the one about the Crusades causing us not to travel to the stars. 01-wingedeagle

You can doubt that if you want but the Southern Association of Colleges and Universities which accredites us and Florida, UNC, Duke says otherwise.

Accreditation requirements are not the same as conference requirements.

For example, the Big Ten generally requires AAU membership to even consider a school for expansion. That's why it was such a big deal when Nebraska lost theirs.

Okay, enough of this. Liberty fans can belive what they want, and the rest of us will believe what we read...

Other than that, this is a useless argument that needs to end now...
