Title IX
SI ran an article on Title IX today, haven't read it yet, but got me thinking. Title IX, as it applies to sports generally, means that spending and support for men and women's athletics must be equal if they have separate levels of competition (i.e. men's and women's basketball). Well, football doesn't have multiple levels, so women are allowed to participate. What's stopping schools from not having women's programs all-together and just making all sports co-ed?

RE: Title IX
Does IX say spending has to be equal or just opportunity? I doubt any school spends nearly as much on WBB as they do on MBB.

The answer to your question is... Women. They don't want to play with men, they want the same opportunity. Making a sport co-ed would reduce the opportunities for women. If you combine men's and women's BB you cut the women's slots in half.

Where is that grammar guy? I think I put the apostrophes in the wrong place.
