Paz, did you notice your previous post was deleted? As I responded to said post, this isn't a game thread or a general baseball thread. It was created for some of us to talk Cardinals and share memories. If you want to talk smack, start a Braves thread or some other thread for that purpose and some of us will oblige you there. We'd prefer to keep this one clean and on point. Thanks.

I agree with GT completely. This is not a game thread.

I'm a huge Braves fan myself, and it's really a bit bittersweet to see Chipper making his farewell tour. The Cards are a classy, successful organization, and have the best fans in the game. I'm not surprised at all at the reception he garnered in his final visit to StL this week.

My first big league ballgame was in Busch against the dodgers. We sat WAY up top in left field. I remember telling my cousin that the only player on either team that could hit a dinger that far was Piazza. Sure enough, towards the end of the game, he put one about two rows away from us. If you're a baseball fan at all, you have to respect and appreciate the Cards for what they and their fans bring to the game.

All that said, I'm still burned about last season. Good luck Cards fans, I'd like to meet y'all in the playoffs again.

Maybe the title should be changed to "not a game thread" then.

While on vacation once (a while back), I met a lady who worked for the Braves organization. She typed out the play by play for the Brave's game casts on the internet. We were talking about the new wave of ballparks replacing the Riverfront/Three Rivers circular cookie-cutter type stadiums. I mentioned Busch, and she said she and others didn't really look at Busch that way. She said it was a favorite place for them to visit because it had a special feel the others lacked, partially due to the total class and knowledge of the fans.

Just out of curiosity, why do some people say that the Cardinals have the best fans in baseball? I've heard that a lot through the years and just wondered why. I know they have somewhat of a large following across this area and the midwest.

All of a sudden, Cardinal pitchers can't get anyone out. The miserable Cubs have put 20 men on base tonite.

Cards are a mess right now. Absolutely dismantled by AtL, now losing to the Cubs. Gave up 14 hits, 6 walks, committed 3 errors and hit a batter. NOT your typical Cardinal baseball!

Nope. I guess a slump was bound to come, but damn. On a solid note, Beltran leads the league in RBIs and HRs (unexpected, to say the least), Furcal is hitting .370 (nice surprise), Lynn still leads in wins w/ a 1.81 ERA, Craig is on fire, we're at the top of the league in batting and the best defensive team. Let's hope Carpenter comes back strong and we'll be okay.

Hey GT, I think we will be fine anyway. The Cards just have to much talent to look this bad for long. You are right, Carpenter would be a nice breath of fresh air. Go Cards!
