Cards still only 3.5 out but it was a joke, a very painful one, that is let's stay in playoff contention with a barely average roster. Like I said, a painful joke. I thought the bats were just cold but I'm afraid those bats honestly accurate. 50 games to go. A 30-20 might get us a wild card.

We do seem to have a lot of games left against the Pirates and Reds. Just make the playoffs and anything can happen.

West coast trip:
Runs scored: 7
Runs allowed: 25

Pretty brutal.

They're just mediocre.
Like pretty much the entire division.

Cubs, Cards, and Brewers seem to keep hitting fools gold. Cards' west coast trip was terrible, but would the Cubs or Brewers have done any better. Cards now have an extended schedule against beatable teams. We will see. It really may come down to those 7 out of 10 games the Cubs and Cards play each other to end the season.

That's a great way of putting it and very true. Not sure any of those three have the playoff ability to get past the Dodgers or even the (I can't believe I'm writing this) .....gasp.....Braves.

These last post are spot on. Every year now it seems like a skip record. Yet so close but yet so far.

If the Cardinals could play the Pirates every weekend then maybe they could win the Central.Today,8/11 they went into the bottom of the 7th down 8-4 and won 11-9.Edman hit a grand slam to give the Cards a 9-8 lead.I'll be shocked if the NLCS isn't Braves-Dodgers but right now they have the 2nd wild card spot a half game behind the Nats for the top spot but only a half game ahead of the Brewers.Everyone hang on and try to stay positive.

Cards made up 3-1/2 games on the Cubs in 6 days. Gotta love the Central Division.

Cards get shut out and only have 2 hits. Cubs blow a 5-1 lead in the 9th inning, giving up 6 runs in the 9th. The Central is crazy. The real shame tonight is that we blew a solid outing by Wacha.

MAY 19th!!!!!

That was the date of the last road series win for the Cubs. If Pirates split the remaining 2 games then it will be THREE FREAKING MONTHS since the Cubs won a road series.

Tonight Maddon was out coached by Clint Hurdle.

I know the Rockies are bad but a 4-game sweep and 2-game lead in the NL central is nice.

NL Central race is over. The only question is how far the Cubs will digress this year. Getting worse every year since 2016 WS. Maddon has wasted a team that has had 6 first-round draft picks playing these past few years. Got swept at home by Washington and then have to go to NYC for a series with the Mets.

The Brewers should be done now. Let's finish off the Cubs next.

Only a Cubs fan would say this. Cubs have the most talent and have severely underachieved. Cards fans know this comes down to the last 10 games. 7 of 10 vs the Cubs. Cubs have been bad on the road, but still can play it into a virtual tie with the Cardinals heading into the last few weeks of the season. Cards need to get Carp right, keep Yadi and Wong healthy, and keep pitching well. The rest is up to fate.

Like I said, it is up to fate. I am glad that it seems like the contender/ pretender line has eliminated the Brewers and the Mets. The Cards have been playing good ball. Crazy that 4 games in two days may help decide the playoff picture in the NL.
