Congratulations! You've essentially gotten you're effed up wish for ECU!

Do the real ECU fans a favor and go cheer for the Holes.

This is pathetic.

It seems too obvious for UTEP and Tulsa to leave, while adding GSU and FAU.

Actually disagree. This is a short term painful move for a long term benefit. Honestly the FCS schools for the most part had better long term potential than the Sun-Belt schools, which much higher budgets, larger enrollments, more outside money being invested, and for the most part larger fan bases. I have been openly critical of adding Charlotte, but not because I think they don't have potential to be successful. I think they actually have everything it takes to be very successful. My main beef with them is I believe they would be very high on the BE short list once they become decent, but hopefully that's just ECU fan paranoia.

It is so weird. like FCS is becoming FBS and AQ conferences are breakingaway from the NCAA. I like tradition so I think realignmnet sucks...big time. ECU should never be forced to be in a football conference with a school that has never played a down of football. jmo.

ECU should be careful what it wishes for. 3 of the members are probably for their benefit. They will enjoy playing 3 of the worst teams in FBS-Charlotte, ODU and FIU for at least the next 5-10 years until their programs mature. And then they will start taking ECU recruits.

Seems like a really poor move by CUSA. ODU and Charlotte will still be there in 5 years. Let them prove themselves, and more importantly, develop their programs at a reasonable speed.

I would have liked having GSU and FAU added first, but I'm glad to see CUSA staying together, even if it all eventually turns into the alliance. Not even sure what the latest is on that.

Did this writer just leave out La Tech accidentally? Or is it really only 5 additions? I'm guessing just an oversight.

I'm guessing it was an oversight that he just happened to leave out the only good football program CUSA added.

After all, this wasn't about football, was it?

One of the ideas was to separate themselves from the MAC/WAC/SB, especially if there is a split. By taking all these startups, they've narrowed the gap. Maybe the WAC gets killed off, but the MAC may be stronger than this group. 3 of 14 are startups, FIU is relatively new, UAB is struggling, while UNM, UNLV and CSU are terrible. Taking all these startups also won't endear them to the power conferences who are trying to keep from spreading the wealth around.

Good find Chico! I flicked a toothpick, but this isn't skype so you couldn't see04-cheers

So if we are still merging are 2 coming west or are we having some weird 10/14 thingy? I heard earlier that we wouldn't merge until all exit fees were paid, then saw these moves and thought we'd go our separate ways and just play non conf. and a bowl.

On the other hand: poor poor JMU.

And I'm sure this marks the end of the annual CAA victory over an ACC team.

Nah, Richmond is still in for football and they still play UVA.

From what I've heard on this board, UNC-Charlotte and ODU have tremendous potential. Not to sound like a cheeseball, but can anyone place the new C-USA 14 on a map for us? I'd venture to guess that if SDSU and Boise St decide to stay in the BE, two of the Texas schools will eventually slide over to the MWC so that each conference will have 12 members.

If true....... all CUSA did.......was go out and add the..............
#10 market - Dallas
#16 market - Miami
#25 market - Charlotte
#36 market - San Antonio
#43 market - Tidewater VA
#83 market - Ruston/Shreveport

Regionalized in a little better Eastern / Western setup

And appeased ECU/Marshall in the mean time

I still think we need to go to 16.

Bring Mid Tenn St and Western Kentucky into the east which give us two more states and then shift Southern Miss to the west. If possible, it would be great to have an ECU/USM CCG.

I can deal with this.....with a MWC scheduling agreement on the side. [Image: 551979_436329046395287_100000545852527_1...0342_n.jpg]

IMO, JMU, Delaware, GSU and another school added down the road...with others moving over to the MWC. The moves over to the MWC could happen soon as well as with future adds.

If BEH's link is on point I see 2 Tx schools moving. If we are just an alliance why would you guys just let UTEP and UTSA slide over to us?

Ahead of CUSA on the FBS food chain.

Ga Southern will not decline and probably not App St U. Still hearing NMSU is in the mix and maybe Idaho if necessary.

Like I posted FBS Conferences can grow programs as needed.

Hearing up to 16 programs, not sure if all will play football, and look for UTA to add football at some point if necessary.

Similar to the Big East, isn't it?

Yep. Looks the same. Add a couple of crappy
Texas schools and a crappy Florida school and a school from the mid-south that has a historically decent basketball, but not much else.

This expansion nonsense is all about markets, but CUSA actually landed a really solid program in Louisiana Tech.
