I know FIU fans will just call me jealous or bitter, but the reality is I don't get the move from CUSA's perspective. You take 1 Florida school, but add 2 more from Texas when you already have Rice and UTEP? I've yet to see a good reason why FIU gets the nod over FAU anyway, especially if you are taking UTSA which is in a market the same size as FAU's (although I'd argue that FAU also bleeds into the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale market that FIU is classified in, thus making us a larger market than SA). I don't feel the need to get into another arguement over which program is better (I'm biased and of course I think FAU is the better program, as our history would suggest), but I've said all along that CUSA should be taking both or neither. I don't get what bringing 1 school in does for the conference.
You're starting to sound like a younger sibling who can't go to Disney because he isn't old enough.

I agree with all of this, the bolded-part especially.

Sorry you couldn't ride our coat tails into a new conference (I always said that objective people would be able to tell the difference between the two schools). Don't worry, we'll still play you OOC, but you better hope that your projections come through or you are going to need to have 4 bodybag games to pay off that shiny new stadium and FIU is certainly not going to pay FAU to come to the Cage! Go F I U!

Old Dominion isn't ready....maybe in a few years.
FIU is on their way up and regardless of what people say, LA Tech earned the right to get n a bigger conference because they have played and beat good SEC schools and they have decent football history. The fans down there will support the Dogs when they are playing teams in their timezone and I guarantee you LA Tech will keep upgrading their facilities to attract more fans. I went there 2 years ago and they did a lot since the last time I was there with no budget.
Nice, honest post. I wish more nBE posters and CUSA fans could see this.
Yeah, FIU is on their way up to reach 10,000 butts in seats. One of these days.
LOL. CUSA fans are going to be sorely disappointed if they think FIU is anywhere close to being UCF. They are light years behind UCF in terms of fan support and facilities. About the only similarities are they are both in the state of Florida.

Try to keep a little bit of pride, will ya.
CUSA fans....this is what it will be like to try and have a conversation about anything with FIU fans (especially this one). CONGRATS! You say something they disagree with and you get this kind of intelligent response. Did I say anything disparaging about FIU?? No. I'm questioning why CUSA would take now 3 FCS schools, and not take 2 FBS schools located 50 miles apart, especially when the conference is so spread out that FIU's closest opponent will be...Tulane? It makes zero sense to me.
I have my pride. How about you try and learn to have a conversation without hurling insults when someone raises an opposing point of view?

Another example of FIU's classy fan base.
Riding your coat tails...LOL. Objective people. That's hilarious. All you are is a market size to this conference, not an athletic program. Face it, you didn't get invited because your program is so successful (it's historically been one of the worst). You got invited so they can try and negotiate a TV deal and they wanted to list Miami to try and squeeze out some more dollars. You are just like Charlotte to them...a team that hasn't even played a single football game yet.

I think SMU is just one "great season" (Top 20, major bowl) away from being a very big deal again in Texas media.
RE: Why would Banowsky take LA Tech, FIU, UNT, and UTSA over...
I thoroughly enjoyed playing SMU back in the Old WAC days. Was always a fun trip. It IMHO would take a couple of top 25 seasons for SMU to retake Dallas. It's certainly possible. I also think Tulane has the same recipe for success.
