In '08 not a single SU player was selected. It was the first time in 33 years. It's surprising no Pitt players were selected, though. The Pitt program didn't crash and burn like SU's did.

I think the change in schematics hurt Pitt prospects.

It's also a testiment to the fact that DW was not as good of a recruiter as originally thought, and that his coaching staff was not nearly as good at evaluating players as originally thought either. As bad of a fit TG's schemes may have been, it doesn't wash away the fact that Pitt had holes in its talent. Notice how the 2010 Panthers fell off compared to the 2009 squad? That was the beginning of the talent trough Pitt found itself in. DW would have had another 7-5 season in 2011 if he were still here.

Here's hoping to Chryst and his staff doing a better job at securing real talent plus developing the talent better than DW.
