Then it's gonna get sweeter for you when I tell you Georgia Southern's band is: SOUTHERN PRIDE!
I really do hope all this rumor-milling is valid! I'm SO GD SICK AND TIRED OF BEING IN A PRIVATE SCHOOL CONFERENCE with NO visibility, and I know Appy folks feel the same way.

As has been noted many times, we don't expect anything to be announced prior to May 25th. Even if by some chance we have an invite in hand by then. Not sure why you keep referring to that date.
Unlike Ga State, we have chance to win a National Championship. We aren't going to put a championship for the 2012 season in jeopardy by announcing anything before June.
Seems like that excuse could hold true for the rest of our natural lives - keep telling yourself that this is the reason, and not the fact that your budget and market are woefully inadequate.

If I'm forced to decide between a CHANCE at one more flag on the title pole or to get our SECOND chance with the Sun Belt (12 years later) to FINALLY move up...

Budget, yes that needs to improve, and is. But just because you guys were accepted into the SBC on market size alone doesn't mean that market size is a requirement to join. At some point the SBC is going to want to add established programs with solid fan bases and rich traditions. App and Southern do that. Neither are in a big media market.

Nope market size alone is not a requirement. There is also location vs other members, upside, facilities and budget. There are other factors as well I suppose. The main thing is this, do you or do you not have an invite. The answer is no because the 3/4 of voting members would have to vote yes. That means 7 out of 9 members. So the only thing that matters is, will 7 out 9 members say yes to Southern? Will for instance BOTH Arkansas members vote yes? Seems unlikely. That would mean you need all the remaining 7 to vote yes.

Why are you assuming Ark schools would say no? FAU is much more of an outlier than Southern would be.
Ark would be better off voting in Southern and App than Idaho and NMSU.
But then again, neither of us really know what they think, so this internet arguing is pointless.

That is a once in a lifetime rivalry with those two programs. "The Marching Southerners" and "The Sound of the South" have a connection within those two programs and there will never be a rivlary like that one. Never have I seen something like anywhere else.

No one else is going to? Alright, I'll do it...
How on earth do you have a band rivalry and how can it be "nasty"?
Do you argue over how many trumpets to have in the brass section and try to play "dueling banjos" over and over during half time?

I think The Citadel and Harvard's bands got in a brawl a few years ago. Pretty funny if you ask me.

The Citadel more that likely won because those cadets band member probally were in dress uniforms so therefore had the advantage of being able to draw there dress sabers.
