Ok chest pounders...
For you MWC, CUSA, and BE folks out there, in the history of your school, how many times have they finished in the Top 25 in football. Not briefly appeared but ended their season (including bowl) ranked.

RE: Ok chest pounders...
WVU has finished the season ranked 20 times since 1953 (only 20 teams were ranked until 1989, when it was expanded to 25), including 6 of the last 7 years...
NOTE: The AP poll only ranked the top 10 schools from 1962-1967. Don't ask me why...

I have to admit....Houston deserved their invitation for their historical performance. It's taken a while to rebuild the program after SWC. UH really got screwed in the SWC implosion.

92-THRU 94, we crashed and burned at the wrong time. Poor leadership, probation, killed us at the time of the SWC end!

For Boston College: 14 times
39,40,42,83,84,86,92,93,94,01,04,05,06,07

Top 10: 3 times
40(#5), 84(#4), 07(#10)

Came close to top 10 a few other times (@#11, 12)

Boston College also had some very good teams prior to 1939, so they may have been ranked more times. Just could not find rankings prior to 1936. (I thought I read somewhere that the AP started tabulating these rankings in 1936.)

Apparently there's some reading comprehension issues going on here.

I think I remember they were in the Big West before it stopped sponsoring D1A football.

I did not think The Big Sky or Big West was ever division 1? Well I guess we have more than nine then.

It took over a decade for our administration to wake up and realize what they had here, and its been a long road back to relevance, but it really feels good to finally have decent and knowledgeable leadership again. The fruits are finally paying off, but the funny thing is that if you ask most fans on these boards, they would swear up and down that quality football at UH started and ended with #7. He was GREAT, but fine football tradition at UH goes MUCH further back than one player that just graduated, and will live on as we enter the Big East.
