He is guaranteed 750K and could could earn as much as 855K with incentives.

All of the money over 175K is private donations. What a difference a year makes. 03-cloud9

ASU fans have decided to call them UL for now on. The reason is because they are showing a comittment to keep a good football coach to help the league. ASU and UL have gotten things started. It's time every body else get on board.04-cheers

I've done it for a while.

I think they both would do a lot better being University of Louisiana and University of Monroe. Both could move forward with good names.

It's a five year contract, but I am not sure of the buyout clause. I hope it is really high.

Tiger High is the official name I think.

And close is good enough. I'm just glad someone else step up with stAte. Now let's wait on results bc I know Gus certainly will need to show he deserves the money. HUD has already shown the results.

I believe FIU and MT are the schools that actually "got things started" by paying their coaches significantly higher a few years ago.

Way to jump on board though!

I think they were going to make Hud the highest paid coach in the 'Belt if I recall, but then stAte hired Gus for that whopper salary which probably skewed things tremendously.

Still a very nice salary and more indication that 'Belt programs are stepping up.

I think he may have taken a little less on his salary to increase the assistant's salaries as well so they get a little love and he was more likely to keep them. I also think the Cajuns assistant staff payroll might have already the highest in the conference.

Pretty impressive for the Cajuns to pay that much to your coach and coaching staff!

Here's a link of Coaches salaries, as compiled by USA Today, prior to last season (2011), where MTSU's Stockstill was #1 at $589K, UNT's McCarney was #2 at $545K, and Mario Cristobal from FIU #3 at $497K, with FAU's Howard S. coming at #4 with $400K. Of course ASU's Malzahn, and Louisiana's Hudspeth now set the standard for the Belt.

In terms of assistant coaches' pay, UNT's were #1 prior to last season in the SBC, with a total compensation to assistants of $1,047,000. Cajuns were #2 witha $814K in salaries, Troy #3 at $807K, with FIU #4 at $790K in 2011. FIU was #1 in 2010. and for some reason it went down over $82K, from $872K in 2010 to $790K. Right after Mario turned down the Rutgers job, he was offered a slight pay increase, as well as a package to increase and to distribute among his assistants and for recruiting purposes.
