This is ridiculous. Why are you even here?

Not to rag on Ga State, but one of the downsides of being in a large city like Atlanta is the nightlife. Especially where Ga State is located, literally downtown. There are so many temptations. Doesn't justify it at all but makes trouble more likely.

I've been here, on this forum, for the past 3 years. I am a fan of the University of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. I donate money and time to help UL get better and continue growing their Athletics programs. And . . . the last time I checked UL was in the Sun Belt, and this is the best and most respected Sun Belt Conference fan forum. THIS is why I am here.

I also happen to dislike wannabe programs that think they are "big time" just because they are located in a Top Ten media market . . . schools that don't have the fans' support, facilities, coaches or tradition to be playing FBS football. Sound familiar? Maybe GaState and "Muck Funroe" would be better off in the Southland Conference with each other. You guys could dream together of "the good old days".

But in the meantime, get ready for regular ass kickin's from the rest of the Sun Belt.

The nightlife in Atlanta can be controlled. I don't like to to see any player kicked off, but the punishment should fit the crime. I agree that Ga State will take a serious beating for a few years...

You will find that GSU does have a fan base as good as most of SBC members. Yes we will have a difficult time at first in football but have every intention of growing and getting better in football and already there in all other sports. Remember payback can be hell. Other than that just where were you heading in your ramble?

Well I'm guessing by the gatadotcom username that your ALSO into southern which would explain why you're being such an arse. And what are you talking about us thinking we're big time? We talk on here like we're relevant because, well, I don't know if you didn't hear yet, WE JUST MOVED TO THIS CONFERENCE. EITHERWAY, get off your high horse and accept that we are here to stay, not because we want to troll or beg (like the southern fans) but because we are a part of this conference. If you have something of worth to say, by all means say it, but if you just want to be an arse because you don't like our presence, then please just stop. We are both happy and proud to be a part of the Sun Belt and I'm sorry if us acting as such pisses you off.

The so-called "little night-school" is a national research university, 32,000 students strong, and on pace to become the largest in the state of Georgia. Compared to your farce of an "academic" institution, we have over 50 nationally ranked academic programs and an endowment more than double that of ULL. In 6 years of CAA play, we've racked up over 12 conference championships -- good for Top 3 in the conference -- and our basketball team will be mopping the floor with your sorry@$$ squad for years to come once we join Sun Belt.

Calling our athletics program "suspect" is one of the funniest things I've read on a message board in a while. Our olympic sports perform at the top of the CAA; our baseball team won the conference title a couple of years ago and is consistently in the Top 4 every year in the league; our softball team just beat No. 2 Alabama AT Alabama; and our basketball team would have been 3rd in RPI in Sun Belt this year -- we beat VCU AT VCU this year, who swept WKU this year. Heck, we beat VCU by double digits last year when they were a Final 4 team.

So guy, please, next time you think you have a bright idea to talk sh!t about GSU, do us all a favor, think it through, and kindly STFU. No one here is buying your insecure B.S.

This is very much the case and the reason you see TCU, Miami, USC and other big city football programs with the same problems. Its very hard to watch 120 kids 24/7 in a city this big. A few months ago my wife had some friends from TX in town and we took them out late (for us) on Saturday Night. It was maybe 2 am when we dropped them off at their hotel and were headed home through downtown There were hundreds of 20 something folks around Peachtree Center just 2 blocks from the GSU dorms. All I could think was, gee I wonder if our student athletes are in their dorm rooms reading the Bible by flashlight...unlikely. I am actually surprised that GSU and GT do not have more incidents.

Thing is, i don't expect our kids to be in bed on a Friday night (at least not during the off season). They have as much right as i do to go out and have a good time. But by the same token, these kids have a social responsibility to keep out of trouble (in the same way as you and i do) and they know that the consequences that will follow if they dont. I would lose a job, and they will lose their scholarship. And i'm ok with that.

And with more exposure comes more problems. It's unfortunate but until the NCAA makes some changes, this will continue.......

I dont think any NCAA change will prevent kids from going out on Thursday nights or make them make smarter decisions

Had you paid closer attention, Cajun fans in general have embraced your addition and welcomed you guys to the SBC, myself included.
