When can we expect all of the sleuths out there to have a list of the possible recruits?

Probably a bunch of local kids.

Yes, its Junior day.

The weather looks to be good (52 and mostly sunny), CPC "ground breaking", food and football (sort of). Looking forward to it.

RE: Recruits Visiting Saturday
Should be a big day. I've heard over 100 juniors will be in attendence. Good weather, good food, big groundbreaking. I'm sure they will have presentations on the CPC, bring out our Championship Trophies, have some potential draft choices i.e. Harnish speak etc. Great opportunity to market our program and the 2013 recruiting class in Illinois is supposed to be deep.

I would not be surprised if we get a verbal or two right then and there. Would be a plus to get as many upfront verbals as we could early on as if our staff continues their success next year we may have a new set of coaches.

Better get our 2013 recruiting board up and running.

Not to mention a brand new hotel, and the bid for the IHSA playoffs are selling points that this is the place to be.

RE: Recruits Visiting Saturday
One of those recruits is the son of a colleague of mine who's an OT for Barrington HS: he benches 260, has a 500+ squat max, and has been getting major looks from WMU and CMU... Would LOVE for him to stay in the red and black (to what I was told, he went to camp there this week and was immediately asked back by the coaches on Saturday :D )

RE: Recruits Visiting Saturday
Huge just a Huge turnout by potential recruits on Saturday. From the people I talked to and based on what I saw on the field for the game it looked like almost 200. They were only expecting 100, but with the nice day and the activities planned, it was an extremely strong turnout. Plus you have to figure these are only local kids.

Another sign our program is on the rise.

Only bad thing was I asked to see the GoDaddy and MAC Championship trophies and they told me they were at some local restraunt. What a huge missed opportunity! I would have been proudly displaying those for potential recruits.

All of the trophies were in the Yordon weight room, I saw them at halftime on a display table... took some photos, hugged one when nobody was looking...

RE: Recruits Visiting Saturday
Saw Brian Steger, a senior and preferred walk-on from Rock Island. He was there was his father, Kurt Steger, who I'm pretty sure is the same guy who was Illinois' starting QB in the mid-70s. Looked just like him, but I didn't get a chance to ask. The Illini love their legacies, so it's nice to see the son of an ex-lllinois quarterback coming to play for us. Also, the kid has a 3.8 GPA. Gotta love it.

Just like that type of turn out. Then recruits might verbal sooner if they see that much interest in NIU. Don't wanna be left holding the bag. IPF will be a huge boost

Played against Kurt in HS, he was a STUD. Great QB. I learned after playing that a lot of QBs if they don't play QB their lineman not WR or RB. The 6'4 - 6'5 types..

NO...NO...NIU can't have any players remotely close to the ILL-NESS!

He likely grew up an ILL-NESS fan, probably went to MORE of THEIR games growing up. He probably owns ILL-NESS memorabelia, and will probably follow the team to some extent while at and after NIU, should he chose to attend! You CAN'T be a fan of BOTH schools! You have to HATE the ILL-NESS! He may even tank games, especially should NIU play the ILL-NESS in the future!. Plus, his dad still would have roots to UI. He can't cheer for BOTH?His son is breaking tradition, the LEGACY!This has many similaraties to Chinese spy tactics. He will probably steal the playbook and send it to the ILL-NESS coach!

03-banghead

NIU BEWARE!! They coaches and players better have some kind of test to check his loyalty to NIU and UI. Perhaps have someone take a picture of him desecrating the bronze Red Grange statue outside Memorial Stadium will suffice, nothing less!
