Oh good grief you guys. This is a good thing for MT athletics. Is it the best thing we could have possibly announced? No, but our existing tennis facility was a joke, much like our softball, baseball and soccer facilities used to be.

We have the best overall athletic program in the conference and we accomplished that for a long time with pathetic facilities in baseball, softball, soccer and tennis and we've been systematically improving them over the past five or six years and all four of those sports facilities are now or will be soon among the best in the conference.

About the only facility remaining in need of major upgrade is indoor track, which doing so will also allow big upgrades to the Murphy Center. I'm sure the indoor practice facility/track is already in the planning stages, if you look at what we've accomplished in the last 5 years, you have to recognize we don't just sit back and rest on our laurels.

I'm excited for our tennis program, it may not be the highest profile, or have the highest paid coaches or biggest attendance, but let us not forget that we did win a national championship in tennis not that long ago. It's a good day for our athletic department and a great day for the tennis program.
