Its time to prove ourselves against some BCS opponets...this weekend we have

Nebraska@ Pitt
Maryland @ West Virginia
Uconn @ BC
USF @ South Carolina

-- I think it is very important that we at least get a split in these games.....winning 3 out 4 would be GREAT.....losing 3 or all 4 games would hurt our league badly in the eyes of the public

True, we don't need no stinking 'Canes, but the teams need to do the job on the field. WVU fans, how's Pitt looking this year? I get the impression Nebraska will run over them, unless there's been a HUGE improvement in their defense. I'm pretty confident about WVU. USF will have their hands full, but I give UCONN a pretty good chance.

-- Pitt's only played one game so far (against ohio U I think) so its hard to get a grasp on how they will be this yr....if one trusts the recruiting services....they have a lot of talent...its just young talent.....if Pitt can win 7 or 8 games this yr and go to bowl...I think they will be one of the favorites to win the BE in 2005

-- Don't forget that Nebraska is moving away from its power running tradition to a short passing game/west coast offense...I think that plays into Pitt's favor

Don't forget the future Big East matchup of Syracuse vs. UC. Bearcats are favored by 1.5 in the Carrier Dome. I don't see SU throwing the ball and UC is tough against the run. UC gets the win on the road....

Either way...There is at least 1 guaranteed win for the NBE.....

I'm not impressed with Nebraska. Not taking anything away from Southern Miss, Southern Miss was the superior team, but I don't think Nebraska is nearly as good as people think. I think people see Nebraska and the pick up of Callahan as coach and think they're good, but I don't think they're going to be as good as people think. I picked Pitt as my surprise team of the year and I think they're going to take down the Cornhuskers.

Cat's Claw,
I agree. USM's win may not be that huge after the season is all said and done. Nebraska is a program in flux and USM's offense is awful. If Pittsburgh can put together any kind of offense they should win this game.

Nebraska has been slipping the last few years. They are now a middle-of-the-pack Big Twelve team. Pitt should, and will, win this game.
