RE: Public Opinion on Candidates
Texas State would be my first choice. Appy State and Georgia Southern fans seem really ******* annoying anyway so it helped me make my decision.

Texas State is a candidate. App is a candidate. GaSo is not a candidate. They are not ready. Their President says they need $4.5M added to their budget. They need a student fee increase. Neither of those will happen in the next 7 weeks. So why talk about a candidate that logically is not a candidate.

As someone who's been very upset with the entire process of conference realignment butt hurt posts never ease any hurt feelings. In fact they are pretty much the lamest, most pathetic form of insults ever. At least go through the time to post the butt hurt form or some annoying gif if you're going to do it, at least that takes a tiny bit of effort.

Anyone that has done indepth analysis should tell you that. If an FCS team is going to declare they have to send word to the NCAA before May 25th.

What bothers me is that it seems that Benson is working off the "good ole boy" philosophy. Which means he may say whatever and then just take in the old WAC schools. He knew someone well with GaState and they get in right away because the CAA might raise fees for leaving the CAA. CAA didn't because they couldn't get a quorum together. Sounds like they probably may never pass that. Some say the CAA did it to get GaState to go ahead and get the SBC deal done. Don't know.

Just know that any of the three teams mentioned would probably be good SBC candidates. Don't want to dish on any school. Just bet that if Benson does add App State that three and five years down the road, bet most of you will be saying that it was a slam dunk and you didn't even know it.

I honestly don't mind App State and I like App St football. But football isn't what needs to be addressed basketball is what needs to be. That and UNCC being easy to get to from Atlanta is the only reason I want them if we can get them.

Landing TxSt and UTSA will be a no brainier because UNT never had a true rival or travel partner. I don't care who the 4th team is but if it was between La Tech and App St I hate la Tech dearly but it would be stupid to pass up.

I have noticed their school officials have shut up in the last few weeks.

Is the consensus that UTSA is gone to CUSA/MWC?

If not, add Texas State and UTSA.

Also, you need to know where you will lose them, and what programs will be avalible. If Sun Belt loses markets, then it had better add markets. If the Belt doesn't lose markets, then there is more room to work with. There may be some FBS programs avalible that might reduce or even remove any need to add more FCS programs. Also, where is UTSA? They are no lock for C-USA.

Of these choices, I think Appy State is the most deserving and ready, but I honestly don't believe the Sun Belt will lose enough teams to merit FCS expansion. Just my opinion.

Because all of the schools don't have tall buildings to hide behind. The alliance might have the luxury to wait until the deadline because UNT, UNCC, La Tech, San Jose, Utah St and UTSA are basically begging to get in and would accept on a days notice.

Say June first or July whenever it is comes and we didn't add anyone and lost 3-4 of our ten teams. This instantly puts the Sun Belt in the red zone in terms of being a FBS conference and would lose everything the remaining teams have worked for if no one was added quickly in two years, meaning we would be at the mercy of FCS teams to survive not them being at our mercy to move up.

This is why it's smart to invite now while we still have all of our members it gives them time to get assimilated and make all the preparations for FBS instead of waiting. Heck, look at the media coverage Georgia St got and how their alumni are going to be donating all the way until they become FBS.

Congrats on UNT for being able to move on but some of us just prefer not to see the Sun Belt drop to 6-7 teams and be on life support like the WAC is right now. If we only lose 2 or no teams then good for us, keep the FCS teams and get a conference championship with divisions.

Even with more losses than anticipated, the SBC would be given enough time to repair the losses, just as the WAC was given time. And FCS teams will say "Yes" yesterday, today and tomorrow if invited. The Sun Belt would still be in a position to pick and choose who to elevate no matter who CUSA steals or when they do it.

Whatever will you do after July 1st?

I'll likely attend 6 home games with 30k+ ASU fans as well as attend a couple of away games as ASU yet again wins 9+ games. The highlight of my sports year hasn't occurred yet.

Enjoy your last year in the FCS, please try to go .500 and average more than 15k this year, 2011 must have been hard for your fans.

We appreciate your concern. The thought that we will not have to deal with App and GaSo fans anymore has made the memories of 2011 easier to deal with.

We've been working off the theory that you guys and either Neck or MTSU will go to the alliance. Obviously if you guys dont go, you and Texas State will recieve invites pretty quickly.

The Sun Belt would not find itself in the situation the WAC is in. The WAC has no programs in the West willing to move up into their sinking ship. There are programs in our current footprint that would join the Belt once the alliance conferences have finished. The Sun Belt will be in no danger of losing it's status as a FBS conference.

Does anyone know if Texas State would ever consider the SBC? I think as long as the WAC survives they will stay there.

So out of the two teams that are available to vote on I think App should be the first choice then Georgia Southern.
