Pg play in the SBC
Over the years i has followed UALR in the SBC we have had 2 pgs that could play in ten years. Imo, pg play is the difference in winning and losing most years in the SBC due to the talent level being pretty even across the board for the teams in he league.

When you go to the SBC tournament, most years, i never think any one team is just loaded compared to most teams. The over all winner may have a little more talent but team 3 to last place are pretty equal.

So, in the last ten years, how many pgs has your team had that were worth a crap?

Could they control the pace of the game? Could they get the ball up the court? Could they attack the gaps in a zone? Could they get into the set offense and produce a good look for someone?

WKU in the last 8 years

AJ slaughter playing over seas sweet 16 team/ round 32 team
Orlando Mendez Valdez playing for Mexico national team, sweet 16 team / round 32 team
Tyrone brazalton playing or played overseas, sweet 16 team
Antonio Haynes not, sure lost first round
Patrick sparks transferred to UK. No clue and don't care where he is, lost first round

WKU won the sunbelt while each was here, also seemed that I gotta give darrin horn credit for finding good guards on the first three.

No. OG was the point. Mitchell was a 2/3 swingman.

No, but in that game Mithcell did play a lot of point because orien was in foul trouble. Best PG i have ever seen in the league was Bo McCalleb.

Josh White was a great overall guard, but if you're talking about our best pass first point guard in the past 10 years... It has to be Ben Bell.

The last point guard USA had that could control a game was Daon Merritt. The two seasons we had him USA went 29-7 in conference and went to the NIT and NCAA tournament (our at-large year) in consecutive years.

Mitchell transferred from Auburn and Greene transferred from Florida, whom I believe was a top 3 team at the time. We sure don't have guys like that anymore....

Michael Vogler is the only one worth remembering from Troy.

That dude could ball. I miss him.
