RE: Pre-Snap Read Countdown
that was a good article on south al football.

i certainly know much more about them than i did before. i've been one all along saying they'll be a success. that doesn't mean i pick them to win a bunch this year.

i just think football and south al go together like 'peanut butter and jelly'

(that's for the old timer south al hoops fans)

I appreciate the high opinion and especially the old Hodge and Lewis reference.

Paul Myer is THE MAN on pre-season write-ups.

I dont know how he does it, or what kind of staff he has, but they really dig out all the nuggets about a program.

Pre-Snap Read seems to do a very thorough job, at least much better than others like the Orlando Sentinental & CFN.

for whatever reason i've always respected and liked the south al squads. i think i just liked the way they played the game when we first moved into the belt.

and guys like junie lewis and hodge were fun to watch. the belt had some beastly players back then. cadillac catledge.

odu had some beasts in gatling and gattison.

vcu had rolando lamb (son played for uconn) and calvin duncan.

uab had oliver robinson. jerome mincy. alan ogg. rip.

i never hated the jags. kinda pulled for 'em when we weren't playing them. did hate the blazers but in a fun way.

but i believe i see more western hate on the south al board than any of our other sun belt schools with maybe the exception of middle and that goes back to the ovc.

folks these days can't comprehend just how good the sun belt was back then. a top 7 conference in hoops.

Seems about right based off of last year's debacle.

The schools at the bottom of each conference in any given year suck. The teams at the top of each conference in any given year are better in C-USA. Agree or disagree?

That has historically been true.

It is interesting that the MAC only has 2 so far not in the top 100. This is where I can see the Sun Belt, with its superior recruiting footprint, making gains. At some point all of these fine Southern Football programs in the Sun Belt are going to regularly rise above the directional Michigan schools and many of the endless Ohio schools in the MAC. It is just a matter of time - the only thing that will stop it is continued poaching by CUSA etc.

Who is No. 100? The mayor of the city housing tomorrow’s university has served seven terms in the position, not to mention 22 years in the state’s national guard.

Is this Troy?
