RE: 2012 Football Predictions
I’ll save my predictions until closer to the start of the season, but a few thoughts and questions.
Schedule
Looking at the schedule, other than the Drake game, I would think CU should be favored or (at worst) highly competitive in the other 5 home games. Pick up a road win or two (Butler and/or Morehead St) and you are looking at 6-5 again or 7-4. I would consider that to be a very good season.
Running Game.
Can CU run the ball anywhere near as well as last year? O-Line will be almost all new and top four running backs are gone. At spring game, O-Line looked as big as last year, but will they have the experience? Running backs looked extremely small. I have always thought Rashaun Brown is CU’s most exciting running back, but can he stay healthy?
Defense
CU has a mostly new defensive coaching staff, so hard to predict. They definitely appeared to be playing much more aggressive pass defense at spring game. I would expect the offense to be down some from last year, so I think whether the defense can really improve will have the major impact on the success of the season.
PS
I noticed this weekend that the lights have been delivered to Barker-Lane, but they are not installed.
