Academic Progress Rates
The NCAA has published the Academic Progress Rates (APR) for all its member institutions. An explanation of APR and a searchable database are available at this link. It is interesting that 10 men’s basketball teams will be excluded from post-season play next year because of three year scores below 900. One CU opponent, UNCW, is on this list.
The CU sports with the highest ratings were Softball followed by Men’s and Women’s Golf. Below are the most recent conference data for Men’s Basketball and Football. Note that a perfect score is 1000.
Men’s Basketball
Winthrop 976
Liberty 969
Presbyterian 967
Gardner-Webb 962
UNCA 954
VMI 948
HPU 948
CSU 944
CU 935
Radford 929
Football
DAV 995
DAY 990
USD 967
Butler 965
Valpo 949
Marist 945
Drake 943

RE: Academic Progress Rates
Not great.
Where is Coastal basketball ranked? Please don't tell me we're below them.
The golf teams were once again the most successful for Campbell in post-season play this year. Good to see their APRs are high as well.
Hopefully football and basketball APRs improve.

My apologies, Coastal must have scrolled off the bottom of the screen. They are ranked last at 909.

RE: Academic Progress Rates
I think it is also worth noting that the average APR for men's hoops at the Football Championship Subdivision is 946. Campbell's four year is 935 and its most recent counting year (2010-2011) was 941. Just think it might be worth pointing out that team's with more money and more academic support (Full-time staff) actually perform better. Shocker!
Here is CU's report: http://web1.ncaa.org/app_data/apr2011/115_2011_apr.pdf
