RE: still early in season but was hoping for better ouitcomes
I think it might be time for a change of coaches on the baseball team. Seems like every season we start the season in a huge hole. Granted we play some highly ranked teams, but the team hasn't really improved in my eyes in many years.

Off topic, but I wonder if it is in the plans of the athletic department to have the baseball field moved and upgraded to more of a stadium type seating? Like Beneditctine's field or ISU recent upgrade.

The baseball team had high hopes for this season and they can still win a conference title but they need to start playing up to expectations real soon. Hard to point to any one thing so far. One day it's no hit, the next no pitch.

I doubt they will move the field. Their clubhouse is under the Huskie Stadium west stands and the field's close proximity to the Yordon and Chessick Centers is a plus.

They beat SIU the game before they beat Illinois as well. NIU won 3 out of 4 they played down in southern Illinois last weekend.

True --- but none of these teams are worth a diddle.

Cannot expect to contend in MAC when opening on road with three losses.

I have no problem with earlier season losses on spring road trip vrs quality opponents.

MAC baseball is a rough proposition. The deck is stacked against northern teams, and even more so against northern teams with limited budgets.

Heck, we played our first 18 games on the road. 3 in Arizona, 12 in Florida, 3 more in evansville, Indiana. The last three weeks are not normal. Usually the weather flipping stinks and by the time it warms up, the season is almost over.

I'd really like to see the NCAA step in and start and end the season a month later. The logistics would prolly be a pain, but I refuse to believe it's not possible.

it is what it is.
Badgers have had no baseball team for that very reason for decades.

Why does the MAC require baseball?

I think I may like to see hockey be a requirement.

I didn't think it was technically required, but apparently it is actually is. Interesting. I'd forgotten that NIU had to add it when they came back to the MAC.

Hockey would be great but it's highly unlikely it ever happens, it's really expensive and most schools don't have a usable rink for an NCAA-sanctioned hockey game.
