It looks like the nightmare of being stuck in the new Big East may be over soon! 04-cheers

BYU and UL are the natural choices at this point. With that being said, Rutgers has to be a close #13

One thing I would like to see is the Big12 to come out and say is YES we are planning to expand at this such and such date. Now for WHO we are looking at were not sure at this point, BUT the teams are definitely coming out of the East. I would like to think Louisville is the next team on the block, but at this point I will take 100% yes on expansion for are chances are pretty dam favorable IMO.

I feel that when the ACC talks stall out in the next month,BYU will probably stay independent and 2 to 4 BE schools will get the invites and solidify the East side up. Should be getting interesting soon.

RE: Big 12 Expansion Info (Link)
1) I don't think the BYU talks are going to stall. I think they want to be in the BigXII as much as the BigXII wants them. They'll work something out, I'm sure. Doesn't necessarily mean I LIKE that, but I foresee it happening. Like the rest of you guys, I'd rather expansion be completely Eastward.

2) There's no chance in hell of the BigXII staying at 10. It's just not going to happen, so you may as well take that as a "Yes we're expanding". It's not going to happen for a couple of reasons:
--A) The BigXII is not going to stay at 10 when even the new Big East is going to have 12 members and a conference championship game. It would slaughter their perception as a "big boy conference" and destroy all hopes of projecting themselves as stable.
--B) They're not going to leave the money a CCG would bring on the table. Dr. Pepper, Jones, the networks...they're all willing to cough up some dough to make a CCG happen, so why leave money on the table? Answer: They won't.
--C) They're not going to leave West Virginia out on an island completely by themselves. That was a move indicative of "more things to come, but for now we'll work it out". They NEEDED a 10th team to keep their current TV deal in place, so they were willing to deal with the travel issues temporarily. However, there's just no way they're going to leave WVU out there by themselves long term. It's not good for WVU and it's not good for the BigXII for the long haul, and it's a clear sign of their expansion intentions.

So stop worrying about IF the BigXII is going to expand again. Regardless of what intertards from West Virginia want to believe, it IS going to happen. Period, end of discussion. The question is WHO and WHEN. While I don't have an answer to either of those questions, the one clear cut consensus throughout this whole thing from all media outlets and blogs alike has been Louisville + whoever. I like those odds. When we DO get in, I'm going to troll the Eerheads so freakin' hard around here. I can't wait.

I think its pretty safe to say its Louisville + 1 or Louisville + 3 at this point. Expansion will either be purely eastward or also include BYU. I think its also pretty safe to say they announce the who this summer/fall.

I don't understand what the B-X sees in Rutgers, but I guess it's something. It can't be the mediocre football and basketball programs.

IMO until the Big XII picks a new commissioner there won't be any movement on the realignment front...

BJ, it's the exposure in NYC that trumps the deal...

I would love BYU to pick the Big East, but have Louisville, Cincinnati. Rutgers and UConn join the Big 12, renamed the Big 14. 04-cheers

Its the attention that Oklahoma, TCU or Texas coming into Jersey would get in the media in Philly and New York that they are interested in. Also, the academic perception of adding Rutgers doesn't hurt either.

True Brista. RU is an academic coup for any conference.

I just get worn out being jumped over by everyone else as a conference candidate. The more we win, the less a candidate we are 03-banghead

If you guys had a 50-60K on campus stadium - or regularly used PBS - UC would probably be a no brainer, beej. But a 35K on campus stadium doesn't exactly scream big time...

Bit they used PBS last year a couple of time for the Louisville games as well as the game against you guys if I am not mistaken. The year before that they hosted Oklahoma and had over 50 or 55 thousand in attendance for that game. So they have used it, but this year I have already seen them state that they will not be playing there. I do agree Nippert Stadium is way to small, and either needs to be completely redone or a new one built on campus.

Yes. They do use it occasionally. But not often enough to improve their attendance numbers significantly...

Speaking of BYU, I thought this was really interesting

http://www.vanquishthefoe.com/2012/4/9/2...d-timeline

Would love to see UL and Rutgers. IMO, an Eastern wing of the Mountaineers, Cardinals and Scarlett Knights could attract a pretty decent second tier bowl on the east IMO (which WVU really wants.) From where I'm sitting, UConn is more of an ACC school, but Rutgers with its staduim size and football oriented fan base could fit well in several leagues
