what you learn is a curriculum.
the government decides what's in the cafeteria.
what you wear is a uniform.
codes of conduct restrict what you say.
no PDA's allowed at school, so no hugging.
and yep, no Murals in the hall telling kids from single parent homes, or gasp, same-sex parent homes that somethings wrong with them.

Once again it's the majority appeasing the minority. I would bet if the mural was displayed for one week and then a survey about it was given that not a single person would have identified anything as offensive.
As for being a part of such 'machine', my involvment is limited to the fact that I cannot control what my tax dollars go towards.

If the mural had two guys, children and wedding rings, UofMem would defend it.

I'm as tolerant of people's choice in lifestyles and relationships as it gets. But I highly question those who support this hypersensitive behavior being shown by these school officials. A student's sketch of a man and woman with wedding rings is now offensive? Are you kidding me?

There are certainly cases where sensitivity is desired. This isn't one of them. It's instances like these that make the "PC police" a laughingstock.

I think you guys aren't reading into this in the way you should be reading into it. This guy is a liberal. You don't see anything patently wrong with this type of thinking, when marrying it up with what you know about the principles of our nation's founding? OC is the one that would fit in well in North Korea. There are f'n religious symbols all over pretty much every governmental complex we have, many dating back to some of the founders.
