Junior Emma Kertesz (Tol. Central Catholic) crushes the all-time MAC record for the 10,000-meters with a time of 33:28. It is an Olympic Trials qualifying time as well. The Rockets had a huge weekend with many great performances. Sophomore Megan Vogelsong (Defiance HS) ran the #5 fastest time in MAC history and nearly an Olympic Trials qualifying time of 34:15 for 10,000-meters as well.

I don't know the quality of the other teams in these races but read this article- it almost blows the mind. A Rocket runner is the top collegiate finisher in the 10K at Duke and is THREE minutes SLOWER than her teammates in San Francisco. A Freshman second-teamer from cross country gets thrown into the steeple for the first time ever and WINS. This is crazy stuff-the track team may not win the MAC but I really foresee x-country (women's) being a dominant force in the region for the next few years at least.

Very impressive, especially considering the great history UT has in women's distance running.

Very surprised to hear she finished 25th in the race-I'm guessing some foreign runners and post-collegiate runners were in the race.

Looks like there was about a dozen post-collegiate women in the race. Kertesz is ranked #15 in the NCAA. Last year only about 4 women ran faster than that time. Vogelsong ranked in the top-25 in the NCAA as well. The freshman steepler is ranked as well.
