Wow, this guy makes Chris Chase look smart

Quote:Religious observances intersect this year for two major faiths. As Christians around the world continue their Holy Week with Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday, Jews will begin Passover on Friday at sunset

And people actually go to the news and believe they learn things? 03-banghead

Just wow...

Yes Maunday Thursday, Good Friday and Easter overlap this year...

Quote:The confluence comes as the Jewish lunar-based calendar makes the 15th of the Hebrew month of Nisan fall on Good Friday.

Like it does *every year*

RE: New low in journalism stupidity
Maybe the "journalist" was looking at my holiday schedule this year? For the first time, we are celebrating both Passover and Easter as a family.

Otherwise....he's an idiot.

Loved that title to the thread. I'm thinking - new low? The bar is set awfully low right now. The newest new lows will soon be underground.

Are passover and Easter always on the same day? I've never been Jewish so I don't know when their holidays are. Of course my mom took to church for 16 years but I still didn't know Easter was today until two weeks ago.

And now I know why Easter always moves. And why the 10 Commandments is always shown this weekend (that always used to confused me why that had to do with Easter.)

Just out of curiosity, when did passover begin in 2011 and when was easter in 2011? Thanks.

Not exactly. Christians use a combined solar/lunar calendar to set Easter whereas Passover is set based on a totally lunar calendar. The result is that in something like 3 or 4 out of every 19 years, the two can be as much as a month apart. But in the vast majority of cases, Passover and Easter are close enough to make the premise of the original article stupid, as duly noted.
