Dude, we had a brand new coach and this was our first winning season in basically 8 years. We have our best recruiting class in history coming this Fall. We'll be fine.

My objection is that GSU is a school that means nothing in ATL, nothing in GA and has won nothing on the field. What benifit will GSU bring to the SBC??? 03-zzz

We have some of our own schools that would inflate our numbers to make sure that they didnt say 915.

There were a few games for ASU this year when we certainly didnt have 915 people, we just reported 2000 because we can.

I won't even address this comment as it is filled with ignorance. I can easily replace "GSU", "ATL" and "GA" in your quote for "USA", "Mobile", and "AL" and many nuts would probably agree.

RE: Georgia State's Basketball Attendance...
We have a new coach Ron Hunter who went 22-12 with esame exact kids that Rod Barned took to 12-18 last year. Do a little research on Coach Hunter. He has lost in ONE season out of 18 as HC and that was when he was transitioning IUPUI from NAIA to Div 1. So if you think our basketball will be weak, lol, keep on thinking that because that sport has more upside than even football. Once the Sports Arena gutting and renovation is done I can guarantee you there will be more than the 1600 we averaged this year in attendance.

Isnt it too bad for you that unless you have a time machine you can set to yesterday there is nothing you can do.

There was nothing I could have done yesterday, nothing you do effects any of this as well.

It is what it is, doesn't mean I have to agree or be happy about it.

RE: Georgia State's Basketball Attendance...
Two things to add here:
#1 - This past year's attendance was probably one of the highest in Ga State's history and that at least had a handful of 20 win seasons since time began.

#2 - I agree Ron Hunter is a very good coach but that just means that his stay at Ga State will be short-lived. If he keeps doing well, the only was he's still at GaSt in four or five years is if a bigger conference invite is on the way.

Great job Benson 03-puke

Guys, really if they are a new member threads like this don't do anything for the conference and you automatically make enemies of any Georgia State fans coming here.

Mods please move this to smack talk.

While the smack might be there, 915 fans total for basketball is atrocious and another big concern. Again, the SBC isn't bringing some kind of crazy name recognition to get fans in the building for them, so if their not pulling the crowds now, I'm not sure they'll be doing it once they're in the conference.

Expressing concerns over a major conference action is not smack talk.

I agree.

There are things to like about Georgia State. They are reasonably close to several existing schools. And Atlanta will be a fun road trip. They did have at least one great crowd this season for football. And they do have potential as a program.

But there are absolutely things to be concerned about with this decision. Basketball is not strong. Not only are they not an existing FBS member, they are barely even an FCS member. They have potential, yes. They have geography, yes. But do they have anything else? If teams that legitimately have more than potential (Appalachian State in football, Charlotte in basketball) then this is a legitimate and fair question.

That said, welcome to the Georgia State fans.

Is that seriously the top consideration? "It should be a fun road trip?"
I've never seen more than a couple hundred visiting fans come to stAte for a conference game, but then again, I guess we just aren't a fun road trip. Does Dollywood have a football team?
