Rice guard Dylan Ennis is considering transferring to Villanova, Oregon, UVA, Va Tech, Memphis, Wake or Cincy, per @BounceTTCAAU

Anyone have any insights? i know little to nothing about Rice U or its athletics.

Looks like he wants to play closer to home. Started at PG, averaged 8.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.1 assist and was named to CUSA all freshmen team.

Three years left and would be eligible after Wright graduates. Seems like it would be a good pick up if it happened.

Played about 25 minutes a game as a freshman, had some pretty nice numbers. Describes himself as a "pass first" point guard.

If we take him Mick is pretty much hedging a bet that he won't land a top flight PG for next year's class to replace Cash, right? The kid can obviously play, but would he take up the extra open scholarship while sitting out next year?

All good but the FTs, and a PG MUST hit his free throws. The ball is in his hands in a close game and he controls the outcome. Maybe, his left foot is too far back?

Gives me flashbacks of Michael Horton going to the line in close games. Yikes.

Good find.

So if we took a transfer that sits out this year would that take the scholarship that would potentially go to Obepka?

Someone would have to transfer out. Probably a moot point since the odds that both Ennis and Obekpa choose us is low, but adding three scholarships and losing two won't add up.

It never does add up but it usually all works out.

There is only one guy in Bearcatland who is way ahead of the curve on these things. His initials are C.B. and he has a really great avatar.

Quote:....Ennis was selected to the Conference USA All-Freshman team after averaging 8.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists to help lead the Owls to their first winning season and postseason appearance since 2005.

Ennis said his decision to transfer was based on moving closer to his family in Brampton, Ontario, just outside of Toronto. He left home at 14 to pursue his basketball career in New York, then Chicago and Houston.

"I've been away from home a long time," Ennis said. "I was just thinking I want my family there. They were only able to see three games (this season), and that really bothered me because the distance is so far."

Ennis said he has not put together a list of potential schools because he wanted to "be respectful and finish out the year with Rice." As part of his release, Ennis has told the Rice coaching staff he will not transfer to another C-USA school.

"You never know where you can end up," Ennis said. "I'm really open to all schools right now. If the possibility comes I can get closer to home, I will definitely try to do that."

Asked if he would reconsider if unable to find a suitable destination closer to home, Ennis said: "I won't be in a Rice uniform next year."

26.5 minutes per game, 43.5% FG , 35.4% 3's, 66% FT's, 4.3 rpg, 4.1 apg, 2.6 TO's pg, 8.5 ppg

shooting 66 pct on free throws would be pretty good on this year's team. Hopes those guys practice a ton this summer and are much better next year.

66%- Yeah, wouldn't that pretty much designate him as the guy to shoot all the technicals?
