Self vs. Izzo?
After watching KU play over the last several years, I'm starting to think Self is as good or better than Izzo at coaching players. His team not only beat the better team when they beat us in 2008, they also beat a more physically talented Ohio State team last night. KU really knows how to turn up the defensive heat when they need to and confuse their opponents. I give them a pretty decent shot at winning Monday, although they are still the underdogs, for sure. Self gets more out of his available talent than, say, Roy Williams (and Pastner at this time), although Williams seems to attract better talent to UNC, for now.
IMO, he may be the best of the mid-career college coaches at this time.
Thoughts?

RE: Self vs. Izzo?
He lost to a 9 seed UNI
He lost to a 14 seed Bucknell in 2005, then followed it up by losing to 13 seed Bradley in 2006.
I'll give him the loss to VCU in the Elite Eight.
I mean, he's had tournament experiences go wrong when he's had the better team, in the past, and a couple of years ago.
That being said, what he's doing with this team is incredible. One hell of a job. This KU team is Robinson and Taylor and a bunch of role players. Hell, I read an article that says KU is playing two former walkons.

Doesn't matter who he got beat by, if he wins his second Monday night the OP will be very right.
