RE: VCU Coach
We should understand that the president of a university like Kent State, has incentive to work against the growing influence of an ambitious athletic department. Where the fan base is large and strong, presidents are in many ways subservient to the athletic department. Some presidents get fired when the athletic department is not performing up to the fans' demands. The success of the athletic department influences outside donations, even to academic areas. So, do you think that L2 really wants to hear from us? Think about it. He will jump on the band wagon for the photo ops when we do something good, but believe me, he will do nothing to promote the good. He is the consummate academician.

The biggest reason is Ohio takes in a million dollars more in revenue for men's basketball than any other MAC team. And they spend it. Their bball budget is 400k more per year than the next closest MAC team which is Toledo.

That is a president who not only cares, he is involved.

What do you make of this line?

Quote:The A10 conference itself is on the verge of a major improvement with the addition of new high quality university programs.

Who would that be?

I am not sure who is going to the A10 but Temple is leaving, so they are looking to add.

Not sure if it is true, but I heard Tressell's job at Akron included funding for a replacement for the JAR.

I’m not asking L2 to renovate, or as you point out, rebuild the MACC for athletics. He should do it for the University. It’s at least as vital to visitor’s impressions as the clock tower he wants to build.

I have heard Butler was extremely interested in taking all of their sports to the A-10 with the exception of I-AA non-scholarship football however that was a few weeks ago so I am not sure if anything has changed at this point.

WE ARE...

...KENT STATE
