UC point guard Cashmere Wright said he has never been fond of his first name.

”Until I got to 10th grade, everybody called me Akim, my middle name,” he said. “Everybody started calling me Cash when they found out my real name. I prefer Cash. I think Cash sounds kind of funny. I can roll with it.”

Wright doesn’t know why his mother named him Cashmere.

“She just tells me she was watching a show,” he said. “She never told me which show.”

RE: What’s in a name?
I think it's about one of the greatest names you could ever have if you're a point guard. And the sound bites it creates are ridiculuous. Expect Raftery to have a field day with it tonight.
