ecuacc4ever,
if the Knightmare title goes through, base it around this kind of format

RE: New UCF Skin? Thoughts...?
Looks very nice.
However, that's too close to the official University marks to make me feel comfortable using them. The best approach, in order to avoid the "phone calls" is to use royalty-free imagery, and fancy text images (like I did with UL's soon-to-be-skin).
Seems the NCAA and/or CLC are crackin' down more and more lately.
I can, however, use that color scheme when creating the banner. We'll make it "do what it do, baby!", trust me :)

I am in contact with Chris, he's going to draw something up using the words "Knightmare" and a color scheme of Black / Gold, in his own style. I'll get back with information / material when I can.

Not a fan of the font. I think it needs some more dynamics, like spear tips on certain letters. But I do like it, just might need some altering.
AND I THIRD THIS OPTION:
"Dr. Charles N. Millican Memorial Board" with the banner name "Knightmare"

Bump.
Would like additional opinions before I make suggestions to the maker.

I need to put you in touch of the fella who works on the Memphis board graphics, too -- he's good. I'll PM you his info.

Not a fan of naming the athletic board after Dr. Millican. If we have an academics subforum, then sure. But I'd like for UCF athletic fans, who may not be familiar with the university's first president, to recognize it.
Personally, a fan of The Castle. Also liked the suggestion of The Garrison. But Knightmare works too.

This board is everyone's board, so I mean, we aren't going to go head-first into naming things. Thanks for bringing up that excellent point, it's like the whole Pegasus-Knightro bit, academia versus athletics.
But if we do end up with a name, it probably should be a familiar name. How many students will see "The Garrison" and immediately think "Oh, UCF!"

You make a good point, but one of the struggles of being a Knight fan is that there seems to be little originality surrounding our sports. It feels like we see Knightmare and variations of replacing night with knight often enough.
Maybe it's time for us as fans to lead the charge to start using more diverse knight imagery. I really like the Garrison as a name. Sure, it doesn't scream UCF at first glance, but the image of a fortified military outpost away from home filled with soldiers seems like great idea for a message board.
Just my two cents.

How about "The Armory"? You could even phrase it as "where Knights go to gear up for battle."
Knightmare is taken as is The Dungeon, and The Moat. I'd really like to see BHNS being referred to as The Castle more often. Yeah, it's cheesy, but we need more medieval theming.

I like The Armory or The Castle. I guess one of those two would get a nod from me. Thoughts?

RE: New UCF Skin? Thoughts...?
I really like naming it after Millican, but barring that...
To keep on the theme of naming after someone important to the athletics program, there are only a few big name players. Daunte, is one that instantly springs to anyone's mind. There's always going with one of our early coaches. Like Don Jonas or Gene McDowell, though I don't know enough about any before GoL, I didn't start attending until after Kruczek was fired. Also, none of the above are dead. That covers football.
There is, of course, Torchy Clark. That is a name Knight fans really should be knowing. And he did pass a couple years ago. I know we are more of a football focused fan base, but Torchy is our most successful coach. Full stop. And I've never heard anything bad about him.
I've never really cared for the litany of the "The <insert Medieval or military reference here>" that fans keep coming up with. But if we had to go with one, then I'd accept The Castle, at least until it's used for BHNS or something.

RE: New UCF Skin? Thoughts...?
I like the trend the term "Knightmare" is picking up, that's why I vote that. You see it everywhere at basketball games as "The Knightmare Student Section", and the marketing department has really embraced it. It's the most popular and common theme we have so far, while everyone is trying to make their own "original" niche. Why not go along with it? "Knightmare" forum, Knightmare basketball section, Knightmare Football... etc etc.
There are enough people trying to carve their own tradition (go see the facebook page), let's go with something that's already recognizable, and uniquely UCF.
I'm for "Knightmare".

RE: New UCF Skin? Thoughts...?
So you guys have settled on "Knightmare"?
Wide format (like all of the skins except Louisville) or Narrow format (like Louisville)?
Black background (point of reference, the background of this board is a slate-ish blue) or Gold background?
You guys have a Facebook page to connect with? If so, I can add a link to it as well.
Sometime in the next 10 days, expect to see a link to a "works-in-progress" page, similar to what I did for the Louisville.
