This is sad and and a gross overreaction by an out of comtrol DA. When the incident occurred I posted that it was more serious than many folks on this board realized and that he needed to be suspended for a game if any of the band members were hurt. I supported the longer suspension when it turned out that some of the band member had concussions.

Charging Jamaal Bass with a felony is going way too far. Putting the kid into the criminal justice system and making him defend himself against these charges is uncalled for.

Plus there was a second Huskie that did the same thing as Bass and he didnt get punished at all. That player has graduated, so it seems pretty clear to me its just about football going after the player with the eligibility left.

More great news for Huskie athletics. Chicago media will jump all over it. Wonder if the DA is running for re-election?

Exactly. If you want to teach him a lesson, fine. Work with UT and have him visit children of abuse and do some anger management classes or something, do not make someone go through the criminal justice system, especially charged with a felony. Also, why did it take so long to file? Worried about getting reelected and wanting to ensure the Toledo band vote?
