Not sure what you are talking about. I'm absolutely thrilled with the job Cronin is doing right now with the UC basketball program. All the credit in the world. Most people I talk to have nothing but positive things to say about Cronin these days.

I think Kennedy has done a very good job, I think cronin is doing an EXCELLENT job. Big difference.05-mafia

Weren't you upset with going to the NIT in Cronin's 4th year? AK does it in year 6 in a weak SEC and he's doing a very good job? OK . . .

We are Cincinnati, they are Ole Miss. We are a top 20 all time program. For an SEC bottom feeder going to the NIT every is pretty good.

Different programs, with different levels of historical success. Also I thought the talent was there that year and I was upset with the absolute collapse down the stretch. I can be disappointed in a season and still be thrilled with where we are now.

Not sure why this bothers you so much and not sure why you want to make this a Cronin v. AK thread. We have Cronin, and a 6 seed, and a 4th place Big East finish, and a trip to the Big East Championship game...things are pretty good without trying to bicker over stupid things.

I wasn't upset with going to the NIT in the 4th year. Disappointed yes, but not upset. It was a step up. In the future, all things being equal, I will be upset if we return to the NIT.

They got to 5 of 6 NCAA tourneys not so long ago. Not sure why it's now seen as a monumental task to get to 1, especially since their conference and division are so bad. I thought AK would get it done there for sure.

RE: Ole Miss, K State, UC
Do you really think kids view cincinnati as a top 20 program. Miss the dance for a couple of years and you are irrelevant. What Mick did is remarkable. Andy has underachieved, far more money than UC has and a much easier path to the NCAA's. I admit I am biased, I think AK screwed UC during his tenure so I am happy to see him mired in mediocrity. Losing in the first round of the NIT is pathetic. Think USF is better than Ole Miss and look at the job Stan Heath has done. I suspect AK is on the hot seat. My perception is he is a bit lazy.

The thread is Ole Miss, K State, UC - I think Cronin and AK fit in there somewhere. Of course you're thrilled now, but a few months ago you were talking about Cronin getting fired THIS season if he didn't make the NCAA. And now you're defending AK's run of NITs, all with no less talent than Cronin has had? Seems a bit funny to me.

Martin landed in a good situation. But I do like his fiery attitude.

Kennedy definitely has a tough gig, but assuredly a safe one. Very little tradition, and winning 20 games per season after the previous coaches went 17-47, spells job security.

Mick had the hardest road to hoe, and may have the best future ahead of him if he can translate the on the court success into recruiting success.

Some of you no doubt have forgotten, but Mick was an assistant for Rick when he got his first head coaching job, and it was Rick who spent considerable time advocating for Mick with the UC decision makers.

I was much more disappointed in White and Jihad for skipping class than AK.
They are grown men.

I don't see Brent posting much either, but I do see where he recently rung up Rath with a negative rep. So that would imply he's reading too.

Shocking. Clown parade since the day Mick was hired. Was a big mouth when things were awful. Happiest when UC was down. Has had that idiot signature for years. He's a total pu$$y and goes into the witness protection program when things go well. Good riddance. Most of them were cut from the same fetid cloth. In like lions and out like lambs.

That's a good post.

Back in those days I took a lot of beatings on chat boards for saying things were heading in the right direction. It was very difficult to see it then, and even I began to doubt Mick.

Needless to say, I'm happy now, not for being right, but for seeing the UC program reach its current level. Still think there's more to come, but I'm good for now.

Back when Kennedy took over for Huggins, I always wondered why Kennedy shot himself in the foot by cozying up to Huggins when he was being offered the chance of a lifetime to coach for a Big East team - and one with a strong basketball tradition.

I'm NOT trying to stir up an argument here, but loyalty to Huggins is one thing, but Huggins has always been on to put his advancement above all else. Kennedy should have looked out for himself first, and not buy himself a ticket to the basketball wasteland of Mississippi.

That move mystified me then, and I wonder if Kennedy regrets it now.

From my limited time reading Ole Miss boards, my take was that their fans are less than happy.
