I'm sure it does. You don't get PAC 12 money without a championship game and they need 12 teams to get it.

RE: New Big 12 & ESPN Deal
I think its foolish to assume in either direction here. Because if the deal is finalized w/ only 10 teams, the league can still expand and reopen the deal-see the ACC. Now if this is only for 10 teams, I think we can see how much larger the deal will be once the league does expand to 12. I could easily see the B12 title game being worth around 15M-which is a little over 1M more per team. And the added revenue due to inventory. Typically I'd say that this is more of a sign that the league is shutting down its expansion shop. But who knows.

Personally, I trust both CBS Sports as well as a trusted insider from our board, both of whom are saying the same things, over Sporting Business whateverI'veneverheardof.

RE: New Big 12 & ESPN Deal
I just don't see HOW the networks can justify giving the Big12 that kind of money for just having Texas and Oklahoma, and 8 other schools. Yes those 8 others are a nice core group, but 20 million each plus more potentially. They haven't been able to increase their TV market for they only added one state to the footprint with West Virginia which has a population right around 2million, but does have their foot in the door so to say in Western Pennsylvania being 70 some miles away from Pittsburgh. Yes they are nationally recognized, but 20million plus recognized I don't think so. You also have the likes of the Texas coat tails in Texas Tech, Baylor and now TCU not to mention the left overs from the bedlam in Okla State who is only recognizable by the pockets of one Carl T Pickens or what ever his name is. I think they will make a nice chunk of change, but nothing in comparison to what the Pac12 just made. The only reason they are able to keep the sweet deal they currently have in place for the networks looked at the years and decided it was best to pay them 12 school money for 10 schools than to re-work the contracts. Who nows if expansion is going to continue with the Big12 for if it doesn't then so be it for the little engine that could just might be ok once everything is said and done.

I think ESPN is throwing $$$ at the league to keep it together instead of letting schools head to the PAC 12(Fox and a lesser extent NBC).

Hopefully the calm before the storm. But if 12 shifts to ACC schools first, I think we're screwed at least for this year.

ESPN isn't going to give The Big 12 PAC12 money so The Big 12 can raid The ACC. Why would ESPN pay The Big 12 to raid the only conference it controls all the media rights for?

My guess is ESPN has assurances that The Big 12 will not target programs in The ACC.

Well it is what it is. We'll have to wait and see what breaks. I feel BYU is the sticking point for now.

What good are assurances from the Big XII at this point? The new Big XII commissioner has yet to be chosen...

The moment ESPN and The Big 12 reach an agreement to pay The Big 12 much more for much, much less, new commissioner or not . It's simple really. Think Pitt and Syracuse to The ACC as chosen by ESPN per BC's AD. Do you really think ESPN is going to direct The ACC who to bring into their conference and then turn around and pay some one like The Big 12 to take them away? Not likely
