I was looking over at the SU board and came accross this thread....certainly this isn't set in stone by any stretch of the imagination but its interesting to see the speculation

-- this guy has Uconn traveling to Pitt, Louisville and West Virginia.....ouch

UC's schedule:

Cincinnati: Home: UCONN, Louisville, WVU or Pitt

Away: SU, USF, Rutgers, WVU or Pitt;

OOC: Eastern Michigan, at Penn State, at Miami OH

This wasn't listed I don't think, but this would be UC's 2006 schedule:

Home: Syracuse, South Florida, Rutgers, WVU or Pitt

Away: Connecticut, Louisville, WVU or Pitt

OOC: Miami-OH, at Miami-FL, at Ohio State

Those are some RUGGED schedules. If anybody had any doubts that moving to the Big East would raise UC's profile and potentially improve recruiting I think that would put it to rest. That's a "big time" program schedule, something you can show to recruits and entice them to come.

Rumor has it that UConn will be returning to the Dome for 2005.

In addition they will definitely be playing @Pitt and @WVU, and they have an OOC game @ GTech. Rutgers will be in CT.

So of the new 3 teams, one will be away and the others will be home.

I sure hope Louisville is a home game this year to even things out a bit.

There will be another game tacked on each year. The schedule only shows 10 games for both years for UC. Obviously they're going to have to add another game, a home game. I think moving to the Big East might have effected scheduling, I know UC had another game or two lined up against West Virginia.

Based on this year's Big East schedule, and looking at the few contests between the new schools and the current Big East schools, I've done some further calculating of what the Big East football schedule might look like next year, and I think I've got a decent breakout of what it might look like week by week.

The first thing was to figure that the final week of the season pairs off the special rivalries:

WVU-Pitt;
Rutgers-UConn;
Cincy-Louisville.
Syracuse and South Florida by default will face off at the end of each year.

Then by a process of elimination and guesswork and wild a$$ speculation I produced my proposed schedule for next year.

This is presented in 7 weeks format, but obviously it would be spread out over more than 7 weeks with OOC games and bye weeks built in....

Week 1
Cincinnati @ Connecticut
Rutgers @ Louisville
South Florida @ Pitt
WVU @ Syracuse

Week 2
Connecticut @ Louisville
Pitt @ Rutgers
Syracuse @ Cincinnati
West Virginia @ South Fl

Week 3
Cincinnati @ Pitt
Louisville @ West Virginia
South Florida @ Connecticut
Syracuse @ Rutgers

Week 4
Cincinnati @ Rutgers
Connecticut @ West Virginia
Louisville @ South Florida
Syracuse @ Pitt

Week 5
Cincinnati @ South Florida
Connecticut @ Pitt
Louisville @ Syracuse
Rutgers @ West Virginia

Week 6
Pitt @ Louisville
South Florida @ Rutgers
Syracuse @ Connecticut
West Virginia @ Cincinnati

Week 7
Louisville @ Cincinnati (the Keg of Nails)
Pitt @ West Virginia (the Backyard Brawl)
Rutgers @ Connecticut
South Florida @ Syracuse

Just theories.

P.S. UC's 11th game will be versus a CUSA team to be determined. That was the deal they made along with Louisville and South Florida to play one game each versus a CUSA.

I would love for UC to get another shot at UAB

The word is the Big East will reward the original members with the extra home games. Original members WVU, PITT, SU, & Rutgers will each get 4 home games.

Newbies UConn, Louisvile, Cincy and USF will get 3 home games.

Yet another reason why Big East football needs a 9th member.

Yes, I had thought of that in my prognostications.

You'll note, however, that I gave Syracuse the 3 home games, not UConn. And there's a reason for that. Syracuse had Cincinnati, Connecticut, Rutgers, and Pittsburgh at home. Syracuse's conference away games were West Virginia, Temple and Boston College of which only West Virginia can return the game.

So, either Cincinnati has to play repeat away games at Syracuse, or UConn does?? Hmmm.

Well, with that in mind, then here's a REVISED prognostication....

Week 1
Connecticut @ Louisville
Pitt @ Rutgers
Cincinnati @ Syracuse
West Virginia @ South Fl

Week 2
Connecticut @ Cincinnati
Rutgers @ Louisville
South Florida @ Pitt
WVU @ Syracuse

Week 3
Cincinnati @ Pitt
Louisville @ West Virginia
South Florida @ Connecticut
Syracuse @ Rutgers

Week 4
Cincinnati @ Rutgers
Connecticut @ West Virginia
Louisville @ South Florida
Syracuse @ Pitt

Week 5
Cincinnati @ South Florida
Connecticut @ Pitt
Louisville @ Syracuse
Rutgers @ West Virginia

Week 6
Pitt @ Louisville
South Florida @ Rutgers
Syracuse @ Connecticut
West Virginia @ Cincinnati

Week 7
Louisville @ Cincinnati (the Keg of Nails)
Pitt @ West Virginia (the Backyard Brawl)
Rutgers @ Connecticut
South Florida @ Syracuse

There. Now Syracuse will feel important again.

I have a feeling Louisville at least will pound all of them next year.

And hopefully we will too.
