This would be my dream, but I understand that it is not ever going to be likely.

Edit: I see that App State should be a little more west but it's close.

I know it is your dream, but you don't have South Alabama on the map. You are not dreaming of us? 03-weeping

I made that map a couple of years ago before I realized that USA was a lock for the SBC Football.

No hate, just being lazy and I just uploaded my old file rather than editing it.

Ok, add USA and UTSA and I will be dreaming as well. 03-cloud9

1. La Tech
2. UTSA
3. Tx St
4. App St
5. Ga St

IMO these are the teams the SB should pursue in that order. Benson has alluded that he wants to get to 12 in FB. Under the current SB divisions there are six FB teams in the east and four FB teams in the west. Therefore, he should look west first. IMO Benson should actively try to get to 12 with the current SB configuration and not wait and see if we loose anyone. Then if we loose for example UNT or FIU then back fill with the remaining teams on the list.

As long as we're dreaming, this was mine.

Replace UCF and Memphis with Georgia Southern and App State and we'd have two really tight divisions, each with travel partners/nearby rivals, the greatest distance between two travel partners would be Georgia State and Georgia Southern who are about 210 miles apart.

North
Ohio/Mashrall(80 miles)
ODU/ECU(140 miles)
Charlotte/App(100 miles)
MT/WKU(100 miles)

South
UAB/Troy(140 miles)
USM/USA(95 miles)
Georgia State/Georgia Southern(210 miles)
FAU/FIU(50 miles)

Wow, what happened to don't mess with Texas? I guess the whole Louisiana name thing doesn't ring in your ears at all. However, I do like the USM/USA and USA/UAB rivalries along the App State inclusion. Ohio may be a bit of a stretch.

If you haven't noticed a theme to all my expansion related posts over the past few months, I put a big emphasis on a tight geographical footprint, which this accomplishes.

Ohio isn't really any further from the rest of their division, than FIU is from the rest of theirs, Ohio and Marshall have an established rivalry, lastly Ohio is in what many have called one of the best college towns in America, they have strong academics and I think would be a good addition to the conference.

True, I have to switch my thinking from East/ West to North /South.

Not sure if Hoover would accept an invite, they consider themselves to be SEC worthy. 03-melodramatic

I severly dislike Hoover High School. I won't use the word "hate" due to the fact that it is referring to a bunch of teenagers.

We could sweetin the pot if we invite Prattville High as a travel partner for Hoover? 05-stirthepot

Georgia St. doesn't want any part of the SunBelt, so all of you who are hellbent in putting them in can now remove them. If they don't want us, I don't want them.

My wishlist is:
Charlotte (when they start FBS)
Texas State
UTSA
La.Tech
Southern Miss
*UAB (see Georgia St.) above

However they both suck.

Give me just about any FCS school over NMSU who is 700 miles out of footprint.

If Texas State and UTSA are added and the sunbelt loses one of the Florida schools, then the Florida school would be further out of the footprint than New Mexico State. If you go to an east/west division setup, each would have one school approximately 700 miles away from their nearest school.

Just say no to New Mexico State. If FIU leaves, pick up an eastern school to partner with FAU. Id rather FCS over NMSU.

Id also love to tell Tech no, however I admit they would really help the league, and I wont deny ULM the opportunity of years of payback.

This list is hilarious.

For one thing, where are you hearing that Georgia State doesn't want the Sun Belt, for the other, if not wanting the Sun Belt is a deal breaker what are you doing including La Tech and Southern Miss?

The fact of the matter is, the Florida schools are already in the conference, regardless of any current outliers, why add one that is 700 miles away?

I have zero interest in expanding any further west than San Antonio and/or San Marcos.

Sun Belt has been all anyone on Panther Talk has been talking about for last 3 to 4 months. When the AJC reported that the feasibility study had been commissioned and completed and recommended the SBC, fans blew up the AJC blog comments, Barnhart & Durham's radio show and Twitter. The response was overwhelmingly positive with dozens of people saying that NOW they would open their wallets. The people who are opposed we're negligible to non-existent.
