So here we are.

13 against Georgetown in Columbus, OH. Anyone making the trip? Any thoughts on the matchup?

Anyone wanna go to Las Palmas?

Unfortunately, the bad losses did hurt our seeding a notch or two and we got the 14-3 . I don't like the matchup as Georgetown is really long and well coached. They are a bit young and our best hope is that they overlook us because of that youth. I may go, but am expecting a similar result as the last time we played them. Oh yeah, and they are the #1 defense in the country against the 3.

I'm starting to think the basketball "experts" don't really like Belmont. I've heard two already pick us to upset Georgetown. I'm tired of them giving the bigger teams motivation. I believe staying under the radar gives us the best chance.

Start time approx 3:10 edt Friday or at the conclusion of the first game. NC state vs SD St. relegated to TruTV again.

Especially after last year...the experts practically turned Wisconsin into the upset pick.

I honestly think that you have a great chance to win 1-2 games. If you beat Georgetown, you should be able to beat San Diego St.

Different NCAA tournament year. Same result.

Gees, we always look so timid against the bigger teams. Here's to hoping we get more practice in the OVC.

RE: ROUND 1: Belmont vs Georgetown
Until Belmont can learn to be more physical and gain 1-2 more athletic players, this will always be the result. Watching the game it looked to me like Belmont was simply outmatched. You guys played hard, but as soon as a run was made, Georgetown would just crank the pressure up a little bit and get back ahead.
Either way, onto the OVC and a hell of alot smaller travel.

RE: ROUND 1: Belmont vs Georgetown
The thing is, it seemed to me that they DIDN'T play well the first 7 or 8 minutes (until the timeout when Coach Byrd was yelling at them). Not to say that Georgetown isn't big - and good - but it just didn't look to me like the Belmont team I'm used to for that first stretch of the game. After that, they looked like the team I know, but Georgetown is too big/good to allow them to come back like they've done in other games. I may be biased (well, I'm definitely biased) and not seeing it clearly, but I thought it was a very good second half (only outscored by 6 in the half)...but can't win this kind of game without a very good 40 minutes.

Either way, on to the OVC for Belmont and all the returning players and, I hope, on to bigger and better things (whether basketball-related or not) for the graduating players.
