RE: Toledo to play in the CIT
CIT is such a strange tourney. Teams can basically buy home court advantage if they want to pony up. I attended the UB/American game last night and there were only like 260 people there. Can't imagine how teams make any money or break even on this? Although for $16 a ticket they were trying their darndest!

With only days to set the schedule, it's pretty difficult to get decent crowds...it's all about exposure and TV I guess, as American had to take a "bath" hosting that game. Nice W for Buffalo, though.

I hear ya. It was kinda' nice though to sit by the UB bench and hear every word while Reggie and the coaches drew up plays. It was so quiet in the house. Mcrea hurt himself and let out a loud "sh*t"! It was like hanging out as a guest on the UB bench for a game.

LOL, you must have been sitting right behind me. I was one of the two guys in Ohio shirts directly behind the Buffalo bench. AU is on spring break so that's part of the reason for the small crowd. It was also pretty cool seeing the Buffalo players and coaches in the stands after the game talking with the fans.

Any word on McCrae's injury?

You should see home much, per attendee some of these games costs!

But the CBI is the same way. Unless you want them to go away this is the price you pay. Besides, UB needs to get road experience..

Price paid to use as a sales pitch in recruiting.."we've played in a post-season tournament"...imagine how many schools would pony up the $$$ to host some 3rd rate bowl game in football just to say they went bowling.

Of course fans only care about the real March Madness and their brackets and don't care to show up for these. Seems some of the players care even less.

Great opportunity for a young team to get more experience, if you honestly have Big Dance aspirations in the future, and want to sell more tickets next season.

RE: Toledo to play in the CIT
Everyone is talking about having to pay to host a tournament game, but no one is mentioning the costs in sending your team on the road for a game. My understanding is that the CIT is not paying schools money to offset travel costs. So if a school pays $30K to host a game and gets $20K in ticket sales and some more in refreshments and so forth, how much is the real loss? You have to factor in operating costs of course. Get that number and then compare it to your travel costs to play on the road. Then see how close those two numbers are and decide whether it's worth it to your fans to provide a home game or not.

Buffalo just traveled to DC and now is traveling to Michigan for their next game. It's not like there are no travel costs to factor in here.

Toledo had just over 1,100 for their first CIT game this year and that was with tickets for sale for just a day and a half. That's not bad really, considering the time frame to sell tickets.

Where do those seeds come from? How is Toledo 32? Why does the write believe UT stole the game from McNeese St.? Personally, I thought McNeese St. was not very good.

RE: Toledo to play in the CIT
Mcneese State was about the level of WMU or Toledo. I think they had a stronger schedule to help out their RPI. Toledo could have had the same record out of conference but kicked up the tallent level a notch. Instead of beating Northwest Indiana Tech Community by 40 we could have beaten an average Summit team instead. It would have made our RPI a ton better. Toledo's not as bad as their RPI. I think Toledo is probably the 20th best team in the CIT. But when you play at home anything can happen.

Axeme will forgive me if I post that Memphis went down in NCAA's to join S Miss as first round knock outs. for C-USA. I have to admit I was surprised as Memphis was playing great down the stretch..I had them winning in my bracket.

First of all, that game was more than a couple of years ago, it was 1999. Second, while the attendance was bad, it was close to 3,000 if I remember correctly. Game was played at Toledo because the circus was at the Cincinnati Gardens.
