Thank You ACC For Saving Us
The Big East has officially become Kmart today. The fans over on the other board are talking academic consortium now. Looks like we'll be seeing you July 1st, 2013.

WVU left too soon. They could have been one of the academic heavyweights in that group.

I saw that, then thought to myself...does Notre Dame and a few of the others really want to align themselves academically with the rest of the conference?

I think the Big East were the ones downplaying the Sports/Academic correlation...they need to stick to that imo.

You are absolutely correct 4x4. When BC left the BE, BC had indicated that academics did indeed play a role in the decision. BE fans derided and ridiculed BC at the time for placing at least some weight on the academic side.

My, how the worm has turned. Just listen to these BE fans now. Karma can sometimes be a wonderful thing! LOL

One of the things that Tranghese and Marinatto would always say, is "we wont expend just for the sake of expanding, will only invite teams that add value." They would always say this when someone asked about Memphis, ECU, UCF, Houston etc.... I always thought that they were thumbing their noses at these programs and many times felt bad for those schools. Now all of a sudden, these schools add value. Things certainly have changed indeed. The BE was able to hang its hat on being the 4th best AQ league academically, but now the league is dead last.

It's just a mess all around. I truly can't say they didn't do their best with expansion after WVU, Pitt, and Syracuse all decided to leave but the problem is that they had no chance to be selective because they waited too long. There's no pity in my bones for Marinatto or the Big East.
