Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports on Syracuse Hoops
Sources: Syracuse’s basketball program repeatedly violated its internal drug policy

Should be interesting to see how this plays out. Charles Robinson always seems to have a nose for a good story.

No doubt. I would imagine that here lately the words "Hello. This is Charles Robinson from Yahoo Sports and I have a few question for you" have caused a rush on underwear for school officials and coaches.

How is it that Yahoo Sports hasn't investigated any SEC schools lately? You can't convince me those guys are clean! (what school did Mr. Robinson attend?)

Robinson got his journalism degree from Michigan State.

They don't "like" it. They are forced to imbibe by unscrupulous coaches and boosters.

This doesnt look good. It seems now that someone has been snooping around SU since the Bernie Fine thing broke.

Personally I don't see the big deal, unfortunately rules has been broken here. I have 0 idea what kind of sanctions/penalties will be issued.

Yahoo! Sports does investigative sports journalism. Everybody knows the $EC is dirty, so there is no investigation necessary.

The weed use doesn't bother me. The fact that Syracuse got caught covering up failed drug tests is a problem because it may force them to lose there 2002-2003 NCAA basketball championship. That would suck.

I think them getting losing their 02/03 Championship sucks a lot. I guess that's better than penalizing the current team and future teams for stuff that happened 9 years ago. All and all I just feel this is a non story.

This is good news. Reporters have been snooping around for months and the only thing they've found is a self-report of something that may not even be an NCAA violation? How many of your programs could survive a three-month snoop-athon by reporters?

The whole think is crazy. SU didn't even break any NCAA rules. It simply didn't follow its own rules. Who says that punishments have to be black any white? Doesn't it make sense for a school to retain discretion over whether and how to punish based upon individual facts? If the NCAA imposes any kind of significant penalty, I would advise every school in the NCAA to rewrite all of their internal rules to replace the word "shall" with "may" in all instances.

So little information to go on, but that does appear to be the case at the moment. And with supposedly the majority of the incidents being prior to the new AD and new President and not involving any current players, a slap on the wrist is the likely outcome.

Cheers,
Neil
