Western looks good to wrap it up. Free throws pending.
NIU looks good to wrap it up. Free throws pending.

Amazing. The West hasn't played ball all year until tonight. I tell you we have the most random championship.

I would have thought Central and Northern would have just showed up and gone through the motions. Looks like maybe neither Eastern nor BG cared that much about going to Cleveland.

Charlie has retired. MU AD just dispatched an email at 10:02p.

Actually, the NIU team has been playing hard all year despite the record. The results certainly haven't shown it, but oh well. They never gave up trying.

RE: MAC Tournament discussion
EMU and Coach of the Year Rob Murphy finish 14-18 after losing to a 4 win Northern Illinois team. That is some kind of special season by the Eagles. What a joke.
Not surprised by Toledo beating Miami (as I bet on the Rockets), or WMU hanging on to beat BSU (although they did it without Nate Hutcheson). BG shocks me. They played really well at home all year and CMU just isn't very good.
Lastly, I hope Charlie Coles enjoys his retirement. It is well deserved and the conference is weaker as a result of him calling it a career. Godspeed Charlie.

NIU007, obviously I was wrong about what I expected. Neither NIU nor Central packed it in. I do note that NIU greatly improved over the year - not the mark of a team going through the motions. Good luck Wednesday!

Lets hope their tank is about 3/4 full tomorrow and at about 1/4 on Thursday.

Maybe I misread the bracket, but that would involve them getting past Kent State. Not sure I see WMU playing Akron this year.

Regardless of tomorrow's outcome, I forsee Akron/KSU III in the Q on Friday night. What we do with that opportunity is completely up to us.

You are correct. As a betting man myself, I would strongly consider Akron second half.

RE: MAC Tournament discussion
Unbelievable first round even though I did pick NIU but I also predicted Miami,OH would win one for Charlie! We'll miss him for sure. The thing that truly struck me was that Zeke Marshall, really, Zeke Marshall, the softest 7 footer I've ever seen is the MAC POY?! Not that we had any one on our team who deserved the award, but big deal, he should block shots, but defensive POY? Cmon, and I totally agree that Rob Murphy getting the COY is a total joke. So EMU had a couple of nice wins, so what, and didn't they both come at home! Sheesh. I truly thought that Dambrot would get the award but those two late season losses probably did him in.
As for KSU/UA the third sequel, we have to have 40 minutes of havoc to win that game unless the Zips are gonna shoot 17% from the floor or something or the D-POY fouls out in the first half or something. Too bad we couldn't have beat Zippy at home and been in the same bracket as UB!

RE: MAC Tournament discussion
Our bench, as far as the subbing for our big men really hurt us against Akron as well. One has wonder what DeAndre Nealy, Robert Johnson or even Darius Leonard may have done.....AND does anyone know what happened to Jordan Wilds?

RE: MAC Tournament discussion
joepa66, Wilds hasn't been listed on their official roster since early in the season. I don't know why he is no longer around, but he was only a walk-on, of which they already have three - Justin Brunswick, Brian Frank and "Stunning" Shakir Dunning. Dunning was actually quite good in HS, but I don't see him, or the other two, ever being a factor in any rotation. As for big men, Henniger was injured for the last Akron game. Let's hope both he and Greene are in better physical shape tomorrow. Leonard needed lots of work. Johnson is around, but currently not active because of grades. A healthy Nealy would have been nice, but either he didn't want to be here, or the staff didn't want him here. Someone more "in the know" may shed some light on that.
