Wrestling!
Here is the link to watch the MAC Championships for wrestling:

http://www.mac-sports.com/Championships/Wrestling.aspx

Unlike previous years, all of the action will take place today. With only 6 teams participating, it makes sense to hold the event on just one day. I just wish it wasn't on a Sunday in Athens. So instead of drinking beer, eating wings, and making fun of OU fans in person, I will watch from the comfort of home and yell at my kids to stop bugging me when KSU is on the mat.

This is the year we end CMU's dominance! So, stop over-analyzing why we lost to the Zits on Friday, stop arguing with each other about the team and its issues, and quit making predictions about the MAC tournament. Instead, watch KSU win this thing and send a large contingent to the NCAAs!!

RE: Wrestling!
CMU 10
KSU 8
NIU 6
EMU 4
UB 3
OU 2

Considering 5 byes, that is a very good start for KSU. Action resumes in 15 minutes.

CMU had only 2 byes. So to only be trailing them by 2 points when they had 3 more wrestlers that could have scored is a good thing.

RE: Wrestling!
125 - Nic wins and advances
133 - Mitcheff lost
141 - Small won. His road is easier because Smith from UB was upset.
149 - Miller wins with a takedown clinic.
157 - Shuster loses by getting taken down inside of 20 seconds left.
165 - Tice loses a close one to UB.
174 - Johnson did not wrestle as he lost in the 1st round.
185 - Newburg gets pinned. Didn't see that coming...
197 - Witt wins
285 - Barlow wins in OT on a very nice TD. More importantly, he shuts up the screeching CMU fans. Their 285 took a half shot in 7 minutes while Barlow took several shots and pushed the action the entire match. Of course, that didn't stop the CMU whiners from begging for a stall call in OT.

CMU 39
KSU 36
NIU 24
EMU 21
OU 16
UB 14

Wrestle backs start soon. We need Mitcheff, Shuster, Tice, Johnson, and Newburg to score points this round. I think we will win the championships at 125, 141, 149, and 197. I hope Barlow can win at 285. I haven't looked to see how many CMU has in the finals at 6 tonight.

RE: Wrestling!
Our lack of bonus points and curious losses by certain guys are the two things which have long separated us from CMU.

RE: Wrestling!
Both Kent and CMU have 5 in the championship matches and 5 in the consolation semis. So the 3 point lead is real and due to pins and majors. Both schools are 1-0 so far in concolation round with Mitcheff gaining a point for Kent with a major. It's going to be close.

RE: Wrestling!
KSU and CMU are mirroring each other in the first round of consolation. We lose, they lose. We get a MD, they get a MD. The round is almost over and they are going to be within a point or 2 of each other. Wow! This is the closest MAC tournament in a long time.

We have 9 wrestling at 6 tonight. 5 in the finals (Bedelyon, Small, Miller, Witt, and Barlow) and 4 in the consolations (Mitcheff, Shuster, Tice, and Newburg. Only Johnson at 174 went 0-2 today. In the finals, we wrestle CMU only at 125.

CMU 50
KSU 48

Correction, we might have all 10 wrestling tonight. Johnson my wrestle CMU for 5th. However, he already lost to the wrestler from CMU, so I'm not sure if he gets to wrestle him again.

RE: Wrestling!
We are in the final for:

125, 141, 149, 197, and 285

CMU is in the final for:

125, 133, 157, 165, and 184

We are in the 3rd place match for:

133, 157, 165, and 184

CMU is in the 3rd place match for:

141, 149, 197, and 285

At 174, we went 0-2. CMU went 1-2.

They have a 2 point lead due to the 1 win at 174 and maybe from another match where they scored bonus points with a MD or pin. Burden, now is your time to shine! lol

RE: Wrestling!
I think I got it Lambert. If a wrestler gets a bye in the quarters and then wins in the semis he get 2 advance points not 1. Also you get 0.5 advancement points if you lose in the semis. The Mat web site is following the tournament and it explained the scoring very well. I have met 1/2 of my quest. On to the NCAA's.

As you say we are 2 points down with each team having 5 championship wrestlers and 4 consolation wrestlers left. We need to win 125 and then match from there.

Arggghhhhhhhhhhhh! Bedelyon gets upset! 9-6

It was tied but CMU scored a TD and backs with 20 seconds left.

That hurt BIG TIME!

Mitcheff lost by pin to Novak. Looking bad. Need a CMU wrestler to lose a finals match.
