Toledo game thread
Hot start offensively, but same with Toledo.
12-12 with 14 to play. They are going right at Janton.

Toledo is hot. Up 9 with 10 to play in the half. Pearson is a stud.

Toledo up 5 with 4 to play. Getting killed on the glass. Rockets have had too many second chances.

Assume Riley isn't playing. Correct?

Down 10 at the half. They are getting way too many open looks. We look flat defensively.

Riley played a few minutes. Murph took him out pretty quickly.

I guess. I'm taking nothing away from the rockets. They are hitting their shots and look very good. We just aren't closing out well and letting guys just walk in for offensive rebounds. I can imagine murph is frustrated with the effort.

Was at the game. Observations: Savage Hall is first class all the way. Great basketball environment, great facility, great crowd. I like how they keep the lighting low except on the court. Great scoreboard. Lots of locals wearing their UT garb. Toledo has a definite home court advantage with their fans. Secondly, Pearson is the real deal. First up close look of the kid tells me he is going to be a real force in the MAC the next 2 years. Lots of questionable calls went against EMU but Toledo played a good game.

I would like the Convo to take a cue from Toledo and dim the lights a little throughout the arena, not pitch dark but dim, like mood lighting--except on the court. It gives a really cool effect and builds a contast between the court and the seating area. In a really cavernous arena, it makes it more intimate and intimidating.

The way the Convo's lighting is setup that isn't possible at this time.

RE: Toledo game thread
It is way too bright in the Convo. I agree with Bob, but if they can't do it, no biggie.
As for the game, I am going to pretend it just didn't happen. It was clear that our guys had no intensity on the defensive end, and when they got down by 9, they completely threw in the towel. Toledo played a great game, but everything we did well against them the first time around (closed out hard on the shooters, kept them out of the lane) was non-existent yesterday. I'm guessing it was just because they had nothing to play for, and it's probably good to have an ass kicking like that right before the tourney. Should wake us up.

Sam, we can do it, we deserve a first class basketball environment and with a few tweeks we can have it. Look at all the improvements we've made to Rynearson. Playing in a huge arena that is as bright as a doctor's office doesn't quite get it. I'll talk to someone at Eastern and make my suggestion.
The UT pep band looked sharp too. They all wore blue shirts, I believe khaki pants, they looked and sounded great.
As for the game, I was right down on the floor, courtside. The guys looked like they were playing hard. I can tell you Janton and Harris were battling but they were getting called for ticky tack fouls. They called it close against us. Hey, Toledo looked good, they played well and we couldn't hit a shot but I don't think we quit out there, from my perspective.

If that is true then I have no use for them, any team I root for must play as hard as they can no matter what the score is.
